Refurbished PS3

So my xbox has been literally smashed to bits because my 14 year old little brother who thought that being drunk for the first time enabled him to do whatever he wanted without consequence, decided it would be funny. I wish I had taken pictures because he ended up getting really sick, throwing up, etc. It was hilarious and worth losing the xbox over. However, I'm now in the predicament of not having a gaming system. My xbox was getting old and was gonna bust soon anyways.

Since I've wasted so much time and money on my Xbox (live, games, etc.) I figured it'd be nice to not have to pay for the internet on a console for once and have decided to move over to PS3.
However, the only PS3's available that are in my price range close to my house are all refurbished from gamestop. Has anyone had any experience with refurbished consoles from them? Does everything work out? No flaws aside from it being a refurbished console?

Sparknotes: Brother broke my Xbox 360, getting a PS3, not sure about whether or not I want to buy a refurbished console instead of a new one. Is it sketchy to do so? What are your experiences with buying and using refurbished consoles?

inb4 Go outside. Theres not much to do at 2 AM on weekdays anyways.

i have a ps3, they are actually better than xboxes but like no one has them and ps3 doesnt have some games like halo. i actually have no idea what refurbs are like, but in my experience ps3s last really long so id go for it.

i got a refurbished one a few months ago. its great but i really dont like ps3 controllers, they are bad for skate, most driving games and pretty mch all games. make sure you have enough money to buy a controller because i know you can get some non-sony ones that are a lot better
