anyone else going to this? should be sick.

Yeah, the vid isn't working, but it looks sick already. I don't think I'll be flying 3000 miles across the country anytime soon though. There's always YouTube!

The event will be nationally televised on Feb 15th at 5:00 pm EST.
Red Bull is sponsoring events all over the place to hype this up. Even the university of MARYLAND (claim) is getting an event supported by them at one of the bars.
Should be a sick time. its basically like icer air but in NYC and with snowboarding. maybe petition to add in skiing next year?

Its 545 am and i am leaving soon to go down there. My friend gets to ride this thing on saturday it should be insane. I think i am more excited for the Red Bull afterparty.

Wait a minute. I've been following this event for a long time, and I never heard anything about ludacris coming down. Or an afterparty. Are those two things linked up? Where is the afterparty? in the park? I'm headed down to the city in a little while, should be an interesting event.

yeah and there is probably going to be free swag everywhere. trying to promote brands in the city. should be sick. im trying to get down there if i can.

ya, it was a two sided hip. chuck d was the special guest and he performed "bring the noise" with anthrax. shayne pospisil won and torstein horgmo got second.

OMG, that shit was the BIGGEST letdown ever. i'm no pro skier but i could have atleast straight aired that tiny fucking hip (with a jump lower than the landing), i feel bad for everyone involved in this project because it straight up sucked dick. riders had to be double wipped into the drop in just to get enough speed to do 5's and 7's. SPT usually knows their shit but this jump was just not happening the way they invisioned it.

only people i want to say a big fuck you to is the douche bad announcers who were talking up cork 5's like they're a fucking new move, and they even were talking shit about loon's last hip comp.

^ wait, they planned for the riders not to have enough speed for a jump they couldn't do their best tricks on? in that case, it went of perfectly

ya, it was a let down, but the drop in was still 9 stories high. at least we got to see the best snowboarder in the world. i was standing 3 feet from terje after the comp. plus chuck d performed.

i'm sure it was a great event experience, as red bull is pretty good at putting on fun events, but i mean come the fuck on. the drop in needed to be at least another 2 stories high because you had dudes like scotty lago using a goddamn DOWNHILL WINCH. i will repeat that, a downhill winch. that is some serious miscalculations when contructing an event course such as this.

^ hahah, no worries man, you guys did a great job with the snow, its Snow Park Technologies that i'm pretty dissapointed with (as i bet most of the riders were). they are widely known for constructing legit features and there was some serious miscalculations in the construction and design of this feautre

So i just got back in at 1 am from the event. A little bit of info most people dont know about is that the drop in was actually supposed to be 135 feet tall but NYC wouldidnt let them go above 90. Huge props to the guys hitting that thing because it was defiantly sketchy. Overall tho some good tricks were thrown and it was a cool event to watch. We will have an edit up in a week or so.

a few of my buddies got on some yacht with the riders and the mayor. sounded like a bad ass time.

It seems that in-run speed has been a reoccurring issue at a lot of these scaffolded events.. Did you hear anyone complain about the snow being sticky or slow in relation to the pitch of the in=run?

i dont know where these complaints come from. my friend was one of the builders for the event and no one that was riding was really complaining about it. the people on the internet and ns or that watched it and said it didnt look to amazing and that they were going really slow missed the fact that it was built as a step up hip lol.

did you see scotty lago having to use a down hill winch??? they might not have been complaining but were definitely not psyched to not get enough speed

I saw this live on tv and shit was dumb as hell.

Very disappointing and like 80% of the riders never made a clean landing.

Actually the riders were complaining, i was standing on top of the ramp watching them wax buff and sharpen edges after every single hit on brand new boards just to have enough speed to clear the thing. The whole thing was shitty. My friend got the invite to it, didnt have a brand new board, and even with the wax only cleared it once (hit it twice and once fell into the net at the bottom) it was supid but the only people at fault was the NYC planning board. They cut down the height of the ramp after plans were finalized. loosing 40 feet of vert makes a big difference. Having to use a high speed wintch and a 90 foot dropin is just stupid
