Red Scarlet Cancelled/Postponed!

The resolution isn't what I like most. I like how it can shoot 120 fps and doesn't have a fucking handle on top like every digi cam has nowadays.

As soon as I saw you replied to this thread, i knew you were gonna say that.

120fps is nice though, not worth an extra 3,000-5,000 dollars tho.

It was supposed to be around 3000 dollars and was going to work straight out of the box. Unlike the redone which was 17500 and it didn't come with a lens, method to store footage, method to record sound, LCD, ect. All it was was a small computer that you attach expensive shit to haha.

I use the handle on my camera all the time. It's great for low angle shots. There's usually zoom and rec. toggles on most cameras handles. If it was useless then they wouldn't put it on the camera. It also keeps the microphone away from the body of the camera to prevent in camera noises. (although if audio is important, you wouldn't be using the on camera mic...)

The Red Scarlet was supposed to be about 3 grand... and all you need for it is the recording unit so the set up was meant to be under 5k... and Yeah i was stoked on the 120fps too... or better yet the 180 fps burts... damn that was going to be hot...
Then i looked more into the camera and realized that its only an 8x lense and am kinda worried about how its the only red that is fixed...

I didnt read the article cuz im lazy, but i sure as hell hope they make it detatchable lenses, then for sure, we will be one of the first people to be jumping on that!

If you have to have the camera low to the ground in order for the shot to look good, then you probably shouldn't be filming it.

Not really. I don't really do a ton of ski filming, but when shoot narrative style films, there are plenty of scenarios where a low to the ground shot is useful. In general, using dramatic angles really affects the way the viewer interprets the scene and the relationship of the subjects.

I'm not trying to be insulting by saying this, but go to your local library and check out a book on cinematography or framing shots. It really opened my eyes to why and how to use different types of angles.

I totally agree. The Red One can shot higher frame rates based on the resolution settings. At 4k I'm pretty sure it can only go up to 30 FPS, 3k-60fps and 2k-120fps. I'm pretty sure Scarlet was going to be different. Who knows what they have in store for us now...
