Hi there,

So im new to skiing this last season. I bought some K2s used from someone off the sell/trade forum. But as i want to progress more in skiing i need advice on which skis would be best? Im looking for a durable, soft ski, for park riding and hitting jumps. Help a sista out please!

Thanks

Jesslyn

Needs some more information. Height, weight, percentage of rails to jumps, where your skiing, are you going to only be in the park or allmnt or pow?

Heyy so i am a female, 5'5, 140. I live in south lake tahoe so i ride Heavenly or Northstar. so mainly ill be hitting rails, jumps too but not bugger then 20 ft. yet. im mainly in the park tho, and on good snow days i like to go to kirkwood when there is a lot of coverage.

Your looking for something in the 165-170cm length rockerd is where you should be looking. If your skiing in the Tahoe area atleast a 95+ underfoot for powder. A wide ski will also give more surface area on the rails but if go for switch ups it will be harder.

What are you considering a Soft ski?

Not sure if your against ridding a mens ski but need to know what your calling a "soft ski".

I don't ride womans skis but I do know they tend to be softer than mens skis.

I would go about 160cm length (maybe up to 165), if you're doing mainly park then 90-95mm width with some tip and tail rocker but not a lot. If you were going to be skiing ONLY park 90-95 might be a little bit too wide, but if you're going to be skiing them elsewhere 95 would be a pretty good compromise. If you plan to ski a lot of pow I'd go even wider.

I don't ski park and haven't ridden many park skis. I like the Line Chronics a lot and they were really soft in my opinion, but I don't know how soft they are in comparison to most other park skis. They're great for park and fine for all mountain as well so they'd fit what you want pretty well, unless they are stiffer than what you want.

Borrowed a pair from a friend at loon the other day. Only got one top run in on them but it was more than enough.

Skis are light as fuck. Seriously never been on a pair of skis or even seen a pair that light, especially for the dimensions (125-96-125) it was nutty as all hell. THat said, they were stable when I was going about 50 in heavy slush and variable conditions. Super solid performance ski.

Topsheet was in good condition, and edges were also in ok condition for a hard season on them (he said over 90 days of a lot of rails), and if you have ever been to loon, the rails there are a skiers worst enemy. I broke 1 pair of skis there last year and I have a ton of spots from one day of riding there this year where the edge is shoved into the base of the ski and I barely hit any rails that day. The edges next year have been upgraded though. The tip had a bit of edge pull out, but not too bad, and they fixed that problem for next year's as well. Bases seem very fast and decently durable, but they were definitely beat up. the flex is super smooth and feels great. Full camber soft skis always have the best flex. They were, for me, crazy soft (but still unbeleivably stable), but I was told thats around average flex. I am used to very stiff skis So I won't be much help with flex profile.

Overall, he said he would probably buy them again, or buy the skis that I was riding and let him use.

I think the graphics looked sick as fuck too

Steve Stepp picked up a new pair of J Skis that we believe will be out soon that are real soft. He's real hyped on them. I suggest waiting a bit until the dimensions and reviews of these come out. They look sick AF and really soft.

Excuse me whoa-dere,

How immature can you get? Could it be that im actually just a new skier asking some advice on skis? I have a boyfriend, yet wanted some more information from other skiers. He is new to skiing as well, so I wanted more of an insight, and was going to share the information with him as well. So thank you for talking smack and making yourself look immature as H!

A good soft park ski would be punx or chronics, but if this is going to be your only ski in Tahoe you might want to go for something less park dedicated so you can ride pow effectively when it falls.

For a do it all ski I would get shredditors, soul riders, rossi slat or something along those lines.

I heard the new punx is stiffer then the old 12/13 version, could be wrong though.

They stiffened it from previous models but it is still a soft ski in the tips and tails.
