Im looking for a good powder ski that will perform well in most conditions. no park riding anymore so i just need a ski thats going to charge on groomers and pow.

currently have automatics with A/T bindings. looking to setup something a bit lighter for in bounds.

appreciate it!

Need a little more info:

Height, Weight, Style of skiing (free ride, freestyle), Home resort, % groomers to pow

I ride the 4frnt YLEs all mountain nearly every day. You would be surprised how well they handle all conditions. The gradual rocker and relative stiffness (compared to other freestyle pow skis) means they don't chatter at all and are extremely stable at high speeds.

If you don't see yourself spinning or riding switch ever there may be better options, but I love mine even though I don't ride switch half the time.

ah yeah i shouldve mentioned that I definitely need the ability to spin/ride switch. thanks for the rec!

any others?

^ I'd go something a little skinnier for groomers as well as pow. Nordica Patron, Faction 3.zero, and Blizzard Gunsmoke are three incredibly versatile pow skis. All of them are wicked fun and ski pow and groomers sufficiently. I have heard great things about the ON3P Jeffery 114, just haven't skied them myself. If you want something even softer, the K2 Shred112 is also a good choice.

The Carbon pow only has a 115 waist in the 178 length, although that might be a bit short with the rocker. If we're talking 115ish waist, the 4FRNT CRJ is great on groomers and pow.

I think i am going to go with the YLE's. they are on sale for 390 on evo.com which seems ridiculously cheap.

last quesiton for me. I am 5 foot 8 and about 150-155 lbs. rode 186's last year. do you guys think i should go with the 177s or the 187s?

177, 187 is just a bit too much at your size if you ask me.

If you rode 186s last year, then the 187 would probably be fine. I'm 5'9 130 lbs and ride the 177s, although I bought them when I was smaller.

Since they are mounted at only 2cm back from center, the ski feels shorter. If you are looking to charge more, I would go with the 187 but if you want to spin or ski in tight trees the 177 would be better.

Also, The Clymb has the YLEs for $379, if you want to save some money. I believe there is also $25 off and free shipping. There are no returns though, so be careful. If you click the link below you will also give me a $10 gift certificate!
