Reckoner 102 vs 112

Hey guys, currently in a bit of a dilemma: reckoner 102 as a one ski quiver for everything

or

reckoner 112 + maybe something like an edollo or arv96 (112 for anything soft snow and edollo for park/hard pack)

I’m 21, 5’10”, 140lb, skiing in New Zealand in a complete mixture of conditions but we never get any major dumps of snow. I got on really well with the 20/21 arv106 last season, enjoyed its all mountain performance, but found the new version a bit too stiff for my liking. I’m probably going to be 40% messing round all over the mountain 30% park and 30% off piste/powder at club fields where I can get it.

I’m willing to pay for the 2 ski quiver but do people think the reckoner 102 would do everything well enough in the playful/fun way i want it to? Or should I buy 2 skis... or does anyone else have suggestions? I’m restricted to K2 Armada and Line because I know the dealers well and can get good deals. Any advice appreciated. Cheers!

I'm assuming NZ isn't too different from the east coast of the united states, so in that case, to with the reckoner 102. It's a great ski to mess around on, and I've found it to be relatively stable on jumps.

If you are only skiing NZ, I would say the 102. I had a 105 underfoot while living in Queenstown and it was the perfect width for off piste NZ but it skied like a dog on some on the groomers (notably skinny groomers at remarks).

Yeah nz is all very similar to east coast, how do you find it just on piste and variable snow just messing around on side hits and stuff?

Just ski the 112 in the park and everywhere else lolllll people these days

One of the k2 reps genuinely told me he had one of his boys skiing it as a one ski quiver last season and loved it, which is why I’m thinking if I was getting 2 skis it could defo be one to include

Ik a kid who skis for k2 in the us and he skis the 112s as a 1 ski quiver park, pow, touring. If you are gonna ski a ski like that in the park imma warn you it’s gonna be heavier than most parks skis, not easy to spin crazy fast. And tons of swaps fast isn’t gonna be easy. How ever skis over 100-105 underfoot IMO are super fun to ski in the park because of the wide platform, and most are rockered and have softer tips. Plus they look sick

Tricky cause I’m considering 2 ski quiver just to have the 112s because the graphics are fuckin sick lol, just trying to justify if I’ll get enough use out of them, if I got the 112’s I’d also get something else for hardpack. I’d also probably keep the 112’s for when boarders open up and I can get overseas

I’ve only had them for two 65 degree days, so I’ve only experienced slush, but it’s a blast for messing around on side hits, great in bumps and they can spin wicked fast.

Originally I said, but I ended up editing and accidentally erased it all, get the 112 if you’ll go overseas

Yeah if i was getting them I’d go 177, if anything I found my arv106’s (180cm) a tad long for what I wanted in the park and they always felt quite heavy in the air so i think I would definitely notice a difference going from a 2100g ski to the 102’s closer to 1850g. I should also probably mention I’m pretty new to park, end of last season I had only just got 3’s on jumps and 2 out on rails. I feel like I would definitely improve on the 102’s I just don’t like the graphics, and I love the graphics on the 112’s lol.

Check out the Jeremy Dean edition before they’re gone. They’re what I have, and they’re definitely not for everyone, but I think it’s a dope ass unique graphic.

I’m leaning to 112’s for that reason. For the second ski I want to go with something from Armada, purely because i know one of the reps really well, I get the best discounts, they’re the best reps we deal with in my shop, all super good dudes and I want to support them. My thought process is...

Strangers: because they look hella fun directionally, but then would I have nothing to use well in the park?

ARV96: good option for me cause I had them previously and loved them as all mountain + park but i kinda wanna spice things up a bit.

Edollo: ideal for park and graphics are sick this season but would i lose out on having something fun for fucking round over the mountain/sidehits etc... or will the reckoner 112 fill that gap for me?

Good point I’d forgotten about those, the 102 Jeremy dean graphics are sick, if my rep has some I’d probably go for them to be honest but if not I’d probably go 112 2 ski quiver haha.
