alright so here is the situation
im a junior in high school and i would want to be able to take it to college with me when i go.im looking into business and mabye some sort of graphic design type thing but not quite sure. the main one im looking at is the macbook pro 15". right now my family just uses a regular macbook 13' with a processor: 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and memory: 2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 (not sure what the last part means to be honest). My main question is; is macbook vs. macbook pro really that big of a difference? Also is apple really the way to go for me?
programs i use right now: final cut (i am okay with switching but would rather not due to personal preference, but if that big of price differnce i will go pc) adobe photoshop adobe illustrator

From what I understand you use your parents laptop now and don't have one yourself?

Also, what's your budget? This is very important.

If you want to do graphic design, you need at least a quad core processor and dedicated GPU.

Right now, I think that this is a crazy good deal:

Packs a ton of power and isn't crazy expensive.

The question whether you want a Mac is just yours. If you can live with Windows then I don't see anything against it; it's quite a lot cheaper.

budget is at most 1750. at MOST. but if its really worth it i may just take a few more shifts at work

Holy fuck! That's MORE than enough. How did you end up with that budget? I don't know how the American school system works, but aren't juniors like 16/17?

Anyway, I wouldn't drop that much. Not really worth it.

I'd get this if I were you:

Then buy 16GB of RAM for 60$ and an 128GB SSD for 80$ and for about 1650$ you will have an ÜBER powerful and fast system that can handle anything like it's nothing except for 3D modeling and HD video rendering (which will both always take some time).

One thing to keep in mind is that you still got about 20 months to go till you graduate. A LONG time and you could either save 300$ by waiting till then or get an even more powerful system for the same money.

If you don't really need it right now, I don't see the necessity of getting it now instead of in 20 months.

yeah well my budget came from my parents telling me they would give me like $500ish towards a laptop for my birthday last year and i worked my ass off this summer and have 2500 in the bank and still work. so yeah. and thanks. i actually think i might go with that one. tons of help +k.
