they were having some customs problems with the first batch of these, but now they're finally available. I may very well pick one of these up...

$129 for the 23 inch, $179 for the 46 inch

"The GLD-400 Slider can be attached directly to a tripod and may also be used standalone with the included feet, which raises your camera setup approximately 2" off the ground."

Couldn't you just screw it on to the threaded bolt where the camera is normally attached to the tripod?

What legs/head do you have? Typically you just lock the horizontal movement and spin the head off. This system looks like it's made from igus parts, same design as the zaza slider just with feet. Not the smoothest slider ever and I've found that it doesn't enjoy much weight, but for the price it's definitely not a bad buy.

Seriously. I have access to a whole metal shop. I could definitly make one of these.

I think the hardest part would be lubrication it so it slides smooth.

has anyone tried this out yet? thinking about picking up a 23" one, but I'd rather pay $100 more for a zazaslider if it's more fluid.

Kind of my thought. I do NOT trust cheap slider systems anymore. I have the cheap glidetrack and on a tripod with just a t2i (grip and normal weighted lens) it doesnt always slide well. Anything under about 50 degrees and it is almost always impossible to use.

I would love to see some people test one of these... especially in the cold. Im in the market for a new one myself, but will need something pretty heavy duty.

Same situation here. I also have the same Igus parts slider like Galin and it's great for the price, but under heavier payloads and / or colder temps, it's not the smoothest slide..

For a noob, can someone post a good example of the kind of shots you would use this for? I can picture it in my head and I'm sure I've seen it, but I can't imagine $140 of potential.

Help?
