Really basic... Popping!

turpin will most likely tell you this:
-forward shin pressure-forward shin pressure-forward shin pressure

thats the most important part of popping and you will probably be most comfortable in the air that way dawgy dawg
 
first you have to know what it looks like, to know how it works. Take a basketball for example: when it hits the floor, to come back up it must first?...... squish or flatten out to bounce back up. This re-directs it energy or momentum. So when you pass the ball off the ground its, in a way, jumping off the ground going forward. In skiing we take off in a upward direction and land in a downward direction so we need to creait that arc like a ball being passed off the floor.
1) Dont jump like a tigger and go straight up.
2) It comes from the hips. its a pelvic trust up and forward
3)like the ball to go up you have to get down first. like ALEX G said you need to feel the toung of you boots on your shins. that tells you that you got low enough
4)lt will feel like LIFT OFF when get it
landing is kind f the opposite you reach then squish

ok i have a related question-

is popping on a trampoline any different than popping with ski boots? cause i feel like i have to pop differently when i'm on a trampoline than when i'm wearing my boots. i'm guessing it has something to do with the forward lean? is this right or should i be popping/spinning the same way i do on the trampoline as i do on skis?
 
So the other day i popped really hard on a jump and im pretty sure i did it wrong because i went like straight up, then down to a really bad case. So the object is to move forward right? Like before when i envisioned popping it was an "up" motion. So now i guess im just clarifying, popping is a way to move your momentum forward off the jump and level yourself in the air right?
 
hey how do i pop properly going switch without my tips catching. i cant seem to get anything past switch 3
 
dont think about popping think about it more like pulling. pull your knees into your chest . this will help not spin, but draw it around.(that sounded weird but thats what im trying to say). have a look in some sw links theres some good sw stuff there to.
