Really 107 tries???

I just saw Long Story Short for the 100 000 time, and just like each time I stopped at Colby Wests part when he s trying that fucking long 6times kinked handrail. He almost kills it at first attemt but bails in the outrun and then it seems like he s trying to clean the rail the whole day (you gotta look at the light and the shadows, in the beginning the light is bright and its before midday and in the end its almost sunset)

In the movie it says that he tried that rail 107 times!!! I mean, 106 bails onto a stair is a fucking lot and I can´t understand that someone tries something for so long. So I was wondering if the 107 tries are real or if its fake, cuz... I don´t know, what do you think?

Most of the times you don't clean a rail you don't bail, you just slide out to the grass or the stairs on a controlled descent. Sometimes you take damage that's for sure, but these guys know how to get of a rail without falling most of the time. 107 It's a lot anyways...

That said:

107 x 10 minutes each hit more or less (hiking, breathing, climbing on the drop in, thinking, hitting, falling and start again)=1070 minutes= 17'8 hours hitting a rail. That doesn't include long pauses or eating/drinking. And I don't think any american city gets 18 hours of sunlight anytime of the year... THEREFORE...

107 tries seems impossible to me. Let's get Berman here and tell us the truth!

thats real. I have sessioned a 65 ft c rail stairway for almost 6 hours. I kept having to whip in this snowboarder who was hitting it with me. The next day my abs and back were so soar i couldent move.

Yeah that's an option but I'm still calling bullshit on the 107 hits since 18 hours non stop is just not possible. Maybe in 2 days...

how does it take ten min each hit. If ur determined you can get a hit every 3 min. 107x3=/60=5.35 hours. add in some breaks and there ya go.

10mins seems pretty long, and 107 seems too much. Still, I figure you could do a hit ever 5 mins with comfort, 3 seems a bit low, but then again 3/ea + break every 4-5 would be fine

how slow do u walk man. Hit it, take ur skis off, walk back up, put them on, hit it again. There is no way that takes 10 minutes. I was doing urban last night and looking at the captured footage it took way less then 3 minutes per hit. Granted this was only a 40 foot rail but still.

I'm telling you 3 minutes is not enough at all. That rail is huge, so you have to walk all the way up again. taking off your skis and walking back up takes at least 2 minutes already, you're not running man, youre fucking tired. The once you're up there you need to rest a little bit (and wait for others to hit it and get off the video take!!! remember he was not alone in that session), get on the drop in (which is not a fast maneuver) put on your skis, athink about it, cameras ready etcetc and then hit it.

No way man

ok i guesse all the video is fake and they are just making it up. Why would they even want to lie about how many tries it took.

that would be very logical. in lots of movies they talk about going back to a spot multiple times to hit a rail. i havent watched the directors commentary, but i feel like this would be the most logical

maybe he tried it on more than one day. just a thought that it would be possible to ski on 2 seperate days

you can def get a hit every 3 min. Ten minutes is a very long time. You guys must walk really slow and be out of shape.

I think I can trust Level 1, even though that's a ton of tries. Like the other dudes said, watch the comentary.

Colby is a fucking maniac too... that guy has more energy than any human I've ever seen. He's for sure the type that would try it 106 times. Hell he'd probably do it 300 if that was what it took.

berman exaggerates everything...im sure it was a ton of tries but its very likely he was joking. he makes claims that sound like a literal, exact number all the time in other movies

lets just say I watched all 107 tries, and it did take them all day. They only hit it for that one day.

His first 3 attempts he pretty much cleans the whole thing then it just got out of hand. All in all, he hit it 107 times. End of story.

We just had the interns watch all the raw footage and count each and every one of Colby's tries. We were a little off... it was only a total of 105 tries. Colby definitely learned his lesson and says he'll stomp all 6-kink rails first try from now on.

i knew you were bad with numbers!!!!

colby isa maniac like bishopp said, never seen anyone eat that much cereal with no milk or liquid whatsoever..

mad talented maniac too
