Real Snow vs real Ski

Personally i was really disapointed. When i watched the Real Ski clips my stoke meter rose after every edit. Real snow left me like "meh".

I was expecting more!

I feel like in every edit there were like 2 or so filler clips. All bangers, had to go with Jesse Paul though because he's from my hometown and I just rode with him twice last weekend and he's a nice dude

I'll probably get hate, but snowboarders go so much bigger in the streets than skiers in general

on average, yes. but these edits weren't anything insane. there are definitely more urban snowboarders than skiers, not sure which i'd rather watch but both are gnarly

Did you guys even watch frank bourgeous part ? That was probably the most amazing urban edit I've ever seen.. Go watch it .. He's the clear winner by a mile

Hey man, everyone has their bad years and good years. It just so happens snowboarding has a lot more bad years than good years. Travis Rice's movie was a piece of trash so it can only be expected of the rest of the industry.

It was good but I see this going the way of skiing. He'll get third and Anto will win because while his shit is way less impressive overall, it just looks like he's having more fun so he's like progressing stuff more...

I 100% disagreed with every single thing you said about Lj getting robbed over Magnus. But I fully agree with what you said here, except that he is the clear winner by a mile. For me Jesse Paul's part was just as next and I would be stoked seeing them come 1 and 2 in any order.

Not looking for an argument everyone's got their own opinion.

But for those who are saying this shit was disappointing, you clearly have no appreciation for snowboarding and have no clue what you're talking about.

Yeah bro because hitting a ledge to a 6ft. drop or doing a 10ft. drop into a redirect is like so impressive and hard.

once you post a single ski edit you'll have some credibility to talking shit about that, until then you're completely irrelevant.

Did I say you can't have an opinion? No.

Also way to be a big tough guy and start calling people fucking idiots because they have a different opinion. This just shows you're the incompetent one here though, you can't even read man.

I said credibility, it's pretty easy to talk shit about someone else's video but we don't even know if you can ski without looking like a gaper let alone hit a flat bar or something a foot off the ground. That's why what you have to say on this topic is irrelevant, and That's why I said credibility, there's a big diffference from having an opinion to being credible if you weren't aware.

I've finally been hitting a decent amount of street this season and let me tell you even a basic down rail becomes x10 harder in the street due to snow, typically shitty in run, lack of speed typically, and about 1000 other reasons.

Who even let you back on here. You're the worst member of NS I've come across.

End roast

Honestly what determines credibility. Do you think Goepper and Gus and Joss and Jossi's coaches are better then them? Fuck no. You can evaluate talent and where those athletes will go based upon a lot more then being able to do the same tricks. Who cares if he can ski, that doesn't make his opinion irrelevant. Most Team Managers are older dudes and can't ski 1/4 as well as their athletes, but their opinion is very relevant and they can evaluate talent.

I agree with you on that.

i just didn't like how he was saying a 10ft drop to a redirection whatever else he said isn't hard or impressive yet he hasn't posted a single video of himself.

theres a lot I've realized after finally getting into the streets myself. Most guys make redirects and other things but wall rides and redirects specifically look easy. Now I realize that may have been the 100th try but after watching lots of street I figured I'd be able to go out and do some redirects after a handful of tries but after actually doing it and battling for hours I realized it's way harder than it looks.

thats why I said that, because I bet if he had tried some of that shit before he wouldnt have said that, and that's why i questioned him on it.

its easy to sit back and say that it wasn't shit but I find it unfair saying that about guys who put their blood sweat and tears into their parts for some chump to chirp it who doesn't even have a video of himself on this site. Could be a million different reasons why he doesn't, but honestly I don't really care. Just didn't see it fair for these guys hard work to get bashed like that.

Thats fine and don't mean to argue, discussion is better. But when you watch an FWT event most kids on NS don't realize it is all drop over terrain, with no visibility of where you may land with rocks in the landing and incredible exposure below. It's why everyone thinks powder skiing is easy, and why Steve Stepp made a Trolling edit on it because it isn't easy. Street is hard, I'm well aware. If you watched Stept's movie Mutiny, I ruined Cam Riley's shot when wilson did the BASE jump and almost crashed because I was holding the rail and stood up and got in his shot. That is arguable the worst street conditions ever with the ICE and a 470 foot drop with a parachute. So I'm aware of the ramifications of street and Big Mountain.

Maybe, all the point that I was trying to make like I said above is that I didn't like how he was bashing someone else's hard work without proof that he's ever even gone out and tried something even remotely close to it. That just seemed unfair and isn't the type of shit the snow community needs in it. Should be sharing and spreading the stoke. Like momma always says if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. You can have a discussion by all means, I personally just didn't like how he was acting like what the boarders did wasn't shit.

i still dont understand your logic. you dont need to post videos of yourself or even be a good skier to understand and appreciate talent or difficulty. jason arens is the head xgames judge. he critiques doubles and triples for a living. i dont think hes ever done a double and i know damn well hes never done a triple. steele spence is also a judge. he hasnt put out a video part since what, 2007? yet hes still able to be critical enough of others to decide who wins thehighest profile events. he's probably never done a single trick in anyones 2017 x games run. but, that doesnt matter because its totally irrelevant.

That wasn't really my main point, but after facing a pack of backwoods and a few to many beers, my poorly written argument can across that that was the point I was trying to make. It was more of a side argument that you shouldn't be nocking something if you haven't even tried it. Which he may have, but definitely wasn't vocal about it. So I thought I could capitalize on it, realizing now though after you reminding me about Jason it is pretty irrelevant. But to counter, It's justifiable with Jason although he wasn't on that x games level he can surely appreciate and see the true talent required since he was at a high level still. Sure anyone can count spins and flips and see what they're doing at the xgames but there's also a reason the judges are guys like them, cause they actually see the true technicality going down not just the basics like how many flips and spins etc. I know it's a big long process to get to that level of judging and some jimmy bob who's never done it probably could get to that level after a while (not 100% sure, just assuming) but it's those guys for a reason. I was just frustrated like I've already stated with his bs towards these guys efforts throughout the season.

I get that you're a troll, and the rest of your life is probably similar, but I've never seen anything you said and even laughed at the slightest let alone thought it was fun.

The way I see it skiing devided into three parts on this.

There's the young kids/gaper's who see what lj did and are absolutely amazed and love it and they love line and lj cause every youngin/gaper does and we all went through that stage, for the most part.

Then you have the older guys/dudes that love the gnarliest shit and going big, so they obviously love lj's cause he went fucking huge and hit/did some insane shit. Also the "older guys"(I use that term lightly) love lj's for the classic/basic tricks that have been around forever but did go and take them to crazy features.

Then you have the rest of the people who fall somewhere in between, these people appreciate the innovation and creativity of Magnus and the bunch and these people love how just about every trick in Magnus part has never been done before or never been done like the way he did, and that he did it with mad style. Style obviously that is his own and unique and not the same shit we've been watching for years.

Now I'm guessing you fall into #2, but that wasn't very hard to guess after seeing what you had to say in your own thread on this matter. That's why you loved lj's and there's obviously nothing wrong with that, and based off the fan vote many people agreed with you.

But the thing is we all know skiing follows boarding which follows skating, now obviously you don't watch much of the 2 others, or maybe you do and I'm wrong. But I've watched the trendy filmed, unique and doing your own thing style transfer from skating to snowboarding to now skiing with the bunch. I hate to tell you but it's one of the partial ways skiing is going in a huge manner. Made even more obvious with the way the judges awarded the medals, innovation and style were obviously huge parts.

Magnus got first for so many nbd's and his own unique take on skiing and style, henrik got second for lots of creativity and mad style as we expect from him, lj got third because Although he did some pretty stock tricks in today's crazy level of skiing and didn't add his own flavour or flare to them but because he fucking sent it. In my honest opinion though stept still has sent it bigger with more style.

This may just anger you more on this subject, but I'm just trying to have a discussion and hopefully help you understand the results. But like I said earlier and i truly hate to inform you since your view on the bunch has been made obvious but this is the way a part of skiing is going so you can either start to appreciate and enjoy the little and insainly tech things they add or just continually get more frustrated. Maybe trying some of the little things like a legit peanut butter(not a nose butter) will open your mind to their level of skiing.

You're just another little bitch that has no value in the real world so the internet is everything to you. The reason why you're not laughing is because your one of the gaper n00bs I call out.

Been watching Jesse Paul in videos over the years and he is the by far the most talented creative style rider on the planet (yes, I'm ranking him above scott stevens). What's best is that his a lot of his tech/creative tricks are still really gnarly, just like Magnus' entry. That fucking back lip through the 90 degree elbow flat down was absolute insanity. Also the nada spin 360 into the dfd, just taking a skate trick to street snowboarding like it's nothing. I could go on but Jesse Paul is the man.

PS gate break to down rail

real questions though, is real ski backcountry not happening this year?

They are doing some alternative comp where each mountain creates an edit of inbounds shit... "This year, Real Mountain will extend the Real Series even further by debuting a digital-only fan-vote competition featuring seven North American big mountain ski resorts. Aspen Snowmass, Jackson Hole, Mammoth Mountain, Revelstoke, Snowbird, Squaw Valley and Whistler Blackcomb will each submit 90-second videos showcasing their resort-sponsored athletes skiing and snowboarding in-bounds terrain and natural features.

The resorts will film throughout the 2016/2017 winter season. The contest will run here on XGames.com in November 2017."
