REAL Butters

Lately I've been seeing more kiddos doing what they call butters, which in reality are just shuffles. This has been a thing that pisses me off constantly. Don't get me wrong I think shuffles are great, and are one of the most stylish tricks out there right now, but calling a shuffle a butter is just annoying, because these kids don't know the difference.

How do you feel about this?

butters should look like a press, where only a part of the ski is on the snow: the nose or tail

a shuffle is just when you spin around on the snow without pressing

I don't think that's even what you'd call a shuffle. they're just reverts right before taking off.

Okay, I just call them spins. Been doing those for a long time. I never heard of a shuffle.

Thanks for the clarification We call the others Nose or Tail Butters.

I always thought that the difference between a regular revert and a shuffle was how you spun.

If you came off the rail spinning right, landed, then reverted right it was just a revert, or a sloppy landing.

Shuffles for me have always been spinning off the rail right, landing, then reverting in the opposite direction that you spun.

But what do I know

When i think of butters, i think of one end of the ski off the ground and the ski flexing or something then spinning, a shuffle for me is just a spin or finishing a spin while both of my skis remain on the gound.

My favorite kind of butter is Kerry Gold Imported Irish Salted Butter. Really great depth of flavor.

Sometimes I will do one of those "spins/shuffles" if I'm going off a roller or something but I definitely don't consider it a butter. I think it's good practice for eventually getting those tails off the ground because personally I'm on the lighter side and getting all my weight over my tips can be challenging, also don't have the flexiest skis
