Read this, because your life will change.

i have been reading around the forums and have finally decided to let out my frustration as i listen to my juelz santana, hung over and tired.so here it goes:

well freeskier is wack, its a shit magazine that sucks the dick of less than ten "super" pros, you think that having matt harvey as editor it would get better just because he started NS and knows a thing or two about the youth of skiing right? wrong.

what they need are some upgrades to the magazine:

1) inspiring interviews with am's, im fucking tired of reading about peter olenicks big balls doing some dumb double flip,

2) cut the shitty ad's, like north 44? who the fuck are these people? of course freeskier needs to make money but there are bunch of companies that dont even have ad's in freeskier that could potentially be there ex. dragon

3) photos of less known skiers. not simon dumont with the same fucking angle that i saw in that movie

4) photos of rails, are minimal. its so refreshing to see those because as sweet as a big cliff shot is, it looks the exact same as the rest of the photos in the magazine and the year before that. i applaud freeskier for the cover photo with sammy carlson, for the photo annual. a fantastic photo, but there has to be more of that!

5) creativity. the layout is shit and has stayed the same for a long time. the road trip challenge was the best article of the year for sure, but there needs to be more like that!

6) help launch the careers of some skiers for christ sake! because they have either contests, movies and photos. contests are fucking boring so if you wanna break out of that you do photos and movies. however, when freeskier only takes those photos of jon olsson doing the same jump photo, your killing the next generation of skiers! and there is alot of availible photos that can be used. and movie wise, your only gonna get in there if you did really well in a contest, know people or win superunknown

7) photos from different areas of the world, not just colorado fuck! if you wanna be the world wide representer of freeskiing, because that is what you are. you should step up your game already

dont get the impression that i dont read. cause i do, alot. magazines moreso than books, and i read snowboard magazines, specifically snowboard canada. now that is a quality magazine. published quarterly, it contains about 3 freeskiers within each with enough interesting articles to keep one occupied for a long long time. sbc skier is good but there is too much of a focus on big mountain. like thats cool but alot of kids cant relate to that shit, like coming from ontario, where your biggest cliffs are 15 feet to flat, you cant really do that all the time. if you wanna inspired creative skiers, you have to show that if you use your surroundings to its maximum potential, you can and will succeed and can do something with your skiing.

bring the hate and the love, because im ready

title: its a joke, because everything on this site is so trivial. as well, who would read your thread if it said "freeskier rant" thats so generic its not even funny, more importantly it would recieve even more minimal response than this already will

subscribe: nope, never have, and probaly never will, even tho i buy the videos and get the free subscriptions

make something better: no, becasue im a university student who lacks the funds and the time to do so, let alone the writing skills to even begin

nbsp:?

my life changed.

i now know i am not the only person that feels the exact same way.

thank you.

hmmmmmm some insight in there. it came across a little angry tho. i think a lot of people will be turned away because of the underlying tone of anger.

magazines suck in general

the future of media fore the whole world is the internet and mags are just hanging aroudn because nobody will let them go

freeskier does suck too they need to get out of the rut the've been in for the last 3 years and come off their high fucking horse

but i am angry, with all the progress that we have seen in skiing, one would think that the media that documents it would progress as well. freeskier represents an old school approach to skiing that at one point in time was considered fresh. however, this point of view and representation is done and finished.

i assure you they do whatever seems most profitable as would anyone who has their money and their lives invested in a business.

powder has really well written articles they have some free skier news but i do enjoy the photos in freeskier

nope, my life hasnt changed and nor has my outlook.

I havent had a look at many freeskier mags, but in england we have fall line, which is shit, so i get Dark Summer. If Freeskier is so shit then why not get Powder or another mag,

you speak some sense, however you wrote your bit with such anger it is difficult to acknowledge the good points

i'm with you. fall line is poor, dark summer isnt that much better but its a step in teh right direction. if i were you, i'd be happy with the free subscriptions. do you know how frustrating it is to buy a ski dvd with a free subscrition to a decent (by that i mean better than you can get here in england) magazine, and then not be able to use it cos you dont live in the us? my other option while i am here in verbier is to buy powder, for about $20 an issue.

my life didnt change and neither did my opinion on freeskier. i dont have a subscription i just read my friends and i like it. although you do have some valid points (#1 especially) i think it does a good job of keeping me informed with whats going on. also, i think that them putting ads for new sponsers is a good idea because there are new companies that need to get theyre name out. we also benefit from this because the sport cant be the same thing forever. new sponsers means new ideas whether its outerwear or a new shop. itcant hurt

my life changed more from reading this thread than from reading freeskier which should mean something.

the magazine needs to make money or it wont exist, as much as i agree with all the things your saying, if they did them, they would go out of biusness

i fully agree with the points about giving up and coming am's much more coverage. they have immense potential to help up and comers get big with their staff of photographers and filmers etc. id love to see the staff of freeskier working with less known skiers and have stories on those rather than interviews with pete or tanner.

however, the magazine needs to make money so i say leave their ads and marketing alone. why do you care who they make their money of off? although the layout hasnt changed in a while, it is still a great and interesting format that we can all enjoy.

if dragon wants to buy a spot in the amg then Dragon should do it. Freeksier sint gonna go "hmmm i guess we will just give this page to dragon....." they have to make $$ and it doesn't matter who gets the ad spot.

that didnt change my life, i still love freeskier.

i agree with almost everything you said, but less passionately. i read and enjoy freeskier, and will continue to do so. but i would like it if they made some changes.

never purchased Freeskier Mag... I browse the pictures... then put it back...thats about it.

The articles are lame. Thats about it.

Skiing Magazine is for people from another iceage.

Ski Magazine is basically for rich retirees is what I got from that mag.

Powder for a good while had it going on... then got lame again.

Internet is where its at.

Bode Miller started Skispace.com

good thread i think. anyway i felt the same way about freeze to be honest, and it went goodbye, perhaps the same will happen here. But more rails? no thanks, more cliffs and trees, yes.

ithink hes preety on the money$$ freeskier sucks.. it has gotten alot better but in the reailty of things you need to be a super pro to given get a check out.. my buddy Ian Macintosh only just got a check out and hes been at the top of the big mountain game for over 3 years.. they need to do more check outs on up and comers, not people that podium at pro comps im talking underground kids like Garret Russell and Cory Zila, J osh stack and alot of others.. and more coverage on international scenes , how about an article on skiing in japan but not about super pros going there to ski what about the japanese pros and the ski scene there, or one on france and the pros and spots there.. freeskier is getting better, butit still aint got shit on any snowboard orskate mags and thats straight up sad

ad space: of course everyone likes money, fuck i love money but isnt it wack when a "freeskiing" magazine with a a fairly young demographic has some north 44 ad (whose stuff ive never actually seen in real life because its soo widely availible) has an balding and grey haired old man on it? sounds kinda stupid

splooshie: funny how you call me a noob, its never happened to me before. obviously i dont know old you are but since you even used that word i assume your pretty young. if you think freeskier is sooo amazing then you should go and search for a freeze issue. freeze had attitude, fun and style and represented real skiing with sick shots and stories from crazy bar nights in sweden, something not found in your freeskier, in fact, i guess transworld had more trust in freeze than freeskier, and believed it was a better representation of skiing to the youth. too bad it turned out this way

rails: well, fortunately ive moved out west for university, but if i hadnt i would be still doing them, alot. as i mentioned in my initial rant, its important to let kids believe that they can get photos and video shots no matter where they ski, especially in the east. not everyone is so fortunate to be living close to a mountain. as well, variety is important in skiing right?

to those that love freeskier: wake up and buy a snowboard magazine, and tell me that it wasnt more interesting than freeskier

FULLY AGREED. it's the same shit, same dorks, every issue. Give some up and comers some exposure for shit's sake!!!! I mean, nothing but respect for seth and tanner, but every damn season, we get a new 6 page interview on each of these bro's. I've heard their story man, let's see some new blood muthafuckas!!

I totally agree with you. You should email that to freeskier and maybe you'll get your wish! And I hate how their last issue is basically in the middle of the season, its retarded. We have 3 months or more to go!

does anyone else miss freeze magazine. that was soo much better. i still read freeskier because when its 45 deggres here in january, its the only dose of skiing i get, unless i want to read my dads Skiing magazine, which is so gay i cant even look at it. but i like reading frezze so much more, such better articles, but maybe not pics

u know what ur a tool to begin with to start a thread like this. 1 we all think freeskier itsnt a great mag right but it is really the only good one out there.2 so why dont u write a letter to freeskier and suck it up for now. i mean really what do u think starting a thread like this is really going to do anyways.
