Read if you ski Gore Mountain, NY

I figured i wouldn't get nearly as many views as if i posted it in the Regionals.

I'm writing an email to Gore about their shitty parks and I have no more ideas about what to say. So if you don't like Gore's parks and you want to say something, here's an opportunity.

If you contribute, I'll email you a copy or try to CC you into the conversation.

Just telling them their park is "shitty" isn't going to do anything keep in mind...

Make it professional and explain the benefits of a fully functional park that is looked upon as being "not shitty". More business, more media, yaddayadda...basically you need to paint a picture because the 50 some year old on the other end of this reading your email won't give too shits about making a better playground for the delinquents of the mountain.

Start a page to collect signatures...the bigger the backing behind you, the more serious they'll take it. Hell, you could even start a funding page to raise money for new features.

no problem dude! Really stress that you think the parks should be improved because they are not that good.

I was there the other week and I agree they are pretty bad, but the only way they could improve would be if they hired a new park crew who knows what they are doing.

don't get me wrong, it's not like I'm completely being an asshole about it, I'm trying to sound as professional as possible

try not to be an asshole in the email, if you are as professional as possible about it there is a better chance they will take you seriously.

Good luck. You're not writing a letter to the owners of Gore Mtn. You're writing it to ORDA, a state run agency. Gore is one of three mountains owned by the state, getting them to do anything to increase their overall liability from their stand point might be tough. Go to Gore if you want to ski trees, go to West if you want park.

*I am not claiming that West Mountain has a great park, or is even open, I moved out of NY year ago. However, when I was there they always seemed to focus some energy on their park and come up with unique features.

I'll give you a story about gore today.

We were hiking the down rail next to the donkey dick and the park guys come up and tell at us saying they will pull our passes if we keep hitting it. They said it was closed but there weren't lollipops up and they were blaming us for throwing lollipops in the woods which we actually didn't. Gore is a fucking joke I hate it.

OWL GANG RUNS GORE MOUNTAIN THO

gore and whiteface are both run by NYS. Gore parks will never be good as they will keep making whiteface better and make people go there instead if they want park. Besides, gore has more than park.. go to darkside and ski there or hit up chatty woods, cave glades, soo much tree skiing i forget gore even has a park.

Don't write an email, they will most likely just brush it off. Write a PROPOSAL. My local mountain has always had a pretty awful park. However, complaints kept growing and growing, and this season, I (with input from the local/ski board community) wrote them a report style proposal with a REASONABLE plan for improvement in the upcoming season. Keep in mind, if a park is awful, its not going to get good in one season, these things take time and capital. Anyway, they liked the proposal, and a local welder also ended up getting involved around the same time, and now we have quite a few seven or so new rails up in the park this year. It is by no means a sick park, but it is exponentially better than it ever has been. They ended up not really following much of the proposal, but I like to think it played a small part in getting the ball rolling.

I grew up riding gore and this park bs has been going on for years since I can remember. Its never going to change but its worth a shot i guess. Honestly your better off going to Whiteface or just go to VT.

The old geezers that run the mountain figure a park will just attract a bunch of Long Tee, wants around their ass wannabe gangsters causing problems and liability. Geezers don't understand the steeze factor. Good luck, a face to face meeting would be about the only benefital thing

that doesnt even make sense. this year they did buy a few new features and they are trying, but a limited STATE RUN budget only allows for so much. They do not have a great park crew either. Think of their park as a fun run after skiing up top all day. There is so much more to ski than park at gore.

gores park is absolute balls

I skied there a bunch this break and never really hit the park because its so bad and gets kids hurt straight up. I go to hit the first rail on wild air and im hauling ass in from sunway. turns out there is 4 inches of solid ice on the rail at 2 in the afternoon!

Ive never done anything like what I did next in my life but I went to ski patrol, explain what happened and asked if I could talk with the non existent park staff. Some hick teen snowboarder wearing a tank comes out and I chewed out his asshole for the negligent setup they had. THe rail was too high off the ground, gap was too big, and rail was too close to the beginning of the park to hit without cruising in with speed, and fucking ice all over it!. just one shitty feature's problems of many I would not even be able to begin complaining about

they need to get someone who knows what the fuck theyre doing. I know everyone thinks building a park is easy but come on... proof of passing high school physics should be the most simple pre requisite

I think they got almost 2 feet through the week and 7.5" overnight, but I agree. I'm from the west coast so the whole east pretty much blows

Lol...ive fought this battle for over 10 years with my friends including working at both Gore and West. You could have a patk crew with all the talent in the world but the managment won't let them do shit. I even signed in to NS for the first time in months to make this post. you want good parks go to killy, mt snow or whiteface if you can deal with everything being set up snowboards style.
