Random Road Trip

So I have a few days off this week and am thinking of going for a road trip. Basically, I'd like to drive two days (there and back) and have one day to wander and hang out. I live in Calgary and I'm thinking I'll either:

- drive out to Vancouver or Seattle, hang out for a day and then head back

OR

- drive down to Jackson and check out Grand Teton and/or Yellowstone for a day

I'm leaning a bit more towards Jackson just because I haven't been down that way before, whereas I've seen a bit of both Seattle/Van. Jackson is also a touch closer (negligible though). I'd also probably wander a bit more if I do that.

Thoughts?

Yellowstone is definitely somewhere I'd recommend visiting for a day at least once, amazingly gorgeous and if you have a camera/care about photography you can get some great pictures.

Keep in mind that 191 south of Old Faithful is closed for the season, meaning you arnt going to be able to easily get from Yellowstone to Jackson. You would have to drive around the west end of the range which from West Yellowstone isn't much further than through the park, but if you end up down at Old Faithful and see that you cant get through, it probably would put a damper on your day.

This actually helps a ton. While Yellowstone would be cool, I was more interested in heading down to Jackson and spending more time in and around that area. I was either going to head down or back through Yellowstone, but it's not a deal breaker. Old Faithful would be cool, but I just saw the OG Geysir (the one all others were named after) in Iceland. Ha ha.

If you really wanted to go though the park, you could go through Cody and come out at West Yellowstone and then head down to Jackson or vice-versa. I always though the north end of the park in more interesting anyways.
