my computer currently has 512mb of 3200 pc400/ ddr ram. So I bought 512mb more of the same kind, but a different brand. As soon as I instlled the ram, it just made my computer keep crashing and re-starting over and over. SO i had to remove the ram, and now my computer is running fine. Is it possible that since it is a different brand its is conflicting wiht the original brand, or is more likely that my computer has a memory maximum?

whats the name and model of your motherboard? make sure that it can support 1024mb of RAM. Make sure it has the same channel type, make sure you're installing it correctly.

Try putting in only the new stick, see if it crashes then. If yes, then its a bad stick. If not, then its a compatability issue.
