So, there's a pretty big competition coming up this weekend at Asessippi, which is the largest resort in Manitoba, and the park crew has been working hard trying to get all the new features in. As I was going through their pictures on facebook, I found this:611183.jpeg

As soon as I took one look at the lip to the rail, I burst out laughing. Not sure if the park crew was trolling or not. There were some concerned comments on the picture, and the staff assured that the lips to all the features would be fixed.

This is exactly it. On the registration forms, there is no category for skiing even. All it asks is for your stance. I'm not even sure that the skiing side gets any of the cash prize. Although, this is mainly due to the fact that the main sponsor, Xtreme Adrenaline, is a snowboard shop.

Still love the resort, but it needs more skiing influence.
 
You should just avoid that comp man. Skier entered that last year and got "beat" by a little kid doing straight airs.
 
...you can hit that on skis no problem. Just go on straight and turn sideways, or butter onto it. Plenty of people do that with like pole jibs and the like.
 
i remember there being a rainbow box similar to this at skibowl around december, except there was literally no lip. it was like suddenly... a rainbow box.
 
Or you could just learn to jump on your skis instead, and hop sideways on it. I think the main reason on this thread was to see how ridiculously narrow that lip is.
 
Ya, I'll probably just go up on saturday and ride the smaller park. I don't feel like paying 40 bucks to be in a category with 2 other people.
 
Definitely. And it's not because they are ignorant towards skiers, most of them just have no idea that we need wider lips that don't shotgun you onto a rail. I've ridden a few parks like this and the features are frustrating to say the least. Drop a word in with the park crew, it wouldn't hurt.
 
I would not touch that shit. I would take out the shovels and dig a tranny. 9 of 10 ski centers or resorts do that, a dug in rainbow rail where the lip and the rail's angles dont meet. People who do that are lazy.
 
Luckily this happen at our resort. And at my resort im on park crew. One of like 3 skiers. 20-25 total people on the crew. But here they understand that features are hit by skiiers and boarders. But lemme just say when grooming lips it sucks doing it in ski boots!
 
This really makes me mad. Rainbows are easily one of the funnest features you can hit and I have only been able to hit one out of the many I've seen at different hills.

being from manitoba assisippi park has AWLAYS fucking blown, jumps are dangerous and rails are set up like shit. Their park crew are bunch of dippers and the cat driver is a hillbilly. Go to spring hill in winnipeg park is much better. they have comps there too and there are a decent number of skiers.
 
Ya, I've seen some edits of springhill and I always wanted to go there, but now that I'm going to school in saskatchewan, it is just too far away. Never been a big fan of winnipeg, but I was debating going to school there just for springhill and the skate parks (Komenda is ridiculous) hahaha.

Asessippi's parks are actually pretty good, but this is coming from someone whose local hill has the absolute shittiest park known to man, if they even decide to build a park. But, I still somewhat agree with you. All the landings are usually packed out and icy, and the park clue kinda seems clueless, but it's getting better.
 
Thats my mountain and I know the crew and yeah there all snowboarders but I always thought they did a good job at accommodating skiers with the tiny budget and restrictions that RCR imposes on them

It seems pretty fun, but I can see some kids taco'ing the side of the bus. And by the looks of it, the windows are still in, so this will be interesting.
