Hey, i'm one of the unfortunate people that missed out on the festivies at Carleton this past weekend, it just had to be in the middle of exams didn't it, anyway, been talking with a few people about the possibility of doing an on-campus rail-jam at the UofO, i'm pretty shure any skier out there must have noticed all the gorgeous rails on campus begging to be greased (buttload around the uni-centre), trying to get Guillaume (vp social of the SFUO) to back it and make it a real event, just curious how many people would actually be interested, so lemme know, i'm shure if we really get into it it would be one hell of a party.

well the one at carleton had a pretty good turn out so I am sure you'd have people show with a bit of advertising and hype. I really doubt the U will be up for letting you ride their rails (both for liability and getting their shit damaged) but we could do a pretty nice setup with all the stairs and stuff around the center. Message me if you are actually planning on getting it going and may be able to help with some stuff.

Also if you want to make it a huge event be sure to include boarders...also helps bring us together

Good idea, except for the fact that there are so many hours of planning that go into it... and it's illegal to use on campus rails (and they will not give you permission to damage their propery. Trust me)

for now its all still verry hypothetical, just scouting the possible interest, if we were to do it boarder's would of course be welcome, as for issues wih the school, i only really see the property damage being bad, for liability, they tend to be pretty cool as long as waivers are signed (a rail jam seems pretty safe next to some of the other things that have been done), as for Carelton having just done it, the idea's been brewing for a while, the Carleton success just solidified the will to make it happen, can you really have to many of these things?, either way i'll keep you all posted.

 
they will not let you slide rails on campus, unless the department of security at ottawa u is wierd and homosexual.

with that being said, im on the fence bout this one. we just just did this, so dont rat out our idea. but if you do, make it on a weekday so i dont miss out on a good ski day.

4 other breathe and stop premieres had railjams..... so wouldnt you guys be the ones, if anyone, holding a similar event.... but it sounds like a good time, im sure you can set something up very similar to urban if your not able to use the rails....

We shot the Double Kink by the sky walk with big drop 2-3 years ago. And Campus security is very harsh there...I doubt you will be allowed. Waivers dont be shit I am sorry, you would defintely be purchasing alot of insurance.

ottawa u will not be hlding this event for a various of reasons. one... If you think your going to get the clear on hitting some of your own handrails it isnt going to happen. Forget it. They'll never ok that. Second you havent any slopes to really set up a jam and thirdly, do you got any pros that go your Uni. I don't think crichton is gunna wanna sesh U of O or any of them for that matter.. Forget about it. Its been done... and wait for next year.

wow, ok, i was expecting resistance from the uni and from security, but from other skiers? so called 'newschoolers', wtf? i know Carlton just did one, hell i would have been there if i haden't had an exam i had yet to study for the next day, and i'm not trying to 'one-up' the people behind the Carlton session, just trying to organize a fun session, so UofO dosen't have pros, who gives a f**k? if some want to show up they'll be more than welcome. I'm just trying to set something up where skiers and snowboarders can meet and chill and maybe even grease some rails.

Everyone loves talking about the 'newschool revolution', well maybe its about time we realised we're on the same side here, if you dont want to come dont, you wont be missed, and if you, you're more than welcome. Otherwise stfu and stop beeing so f**king petty.

They may be a dumbass university full of semi-dropouts (last chance u), but they have the skiing shit down good. A rail jam won't fly at ottawa, because most of the skiiers here are tightasses who'd rather study then jam.

i doubt anyone in this post knows me, however my quiet opinion on the matter is that everyone needs to a) chill out and b) support any kind of event anyone is trying to put down in order to further expand peoples views on skiing. now with that said, so what if u of o wont allow it, at least try...and if it doesnt go down, which by the sounds of the people who know what they are talking about, it wont, why not set up a session or a jam somewhere off compus. And to all the people bashing this dude for ''copying'' the carelton session, i say since when does skiing or snowboarding or having a good time have anything to do with who thuoght of it first. If you were the first dude at your hill riddin on twins, are you going to tell anyone else new on twins to stop trying and they are just copying you? of course not, do you guys honestly think whoever set up the carelton jam was the first person ever to throw down at some kind of university or college? Anyways hopefully no ones gonna start bashin the shit outta me because all im saying is if u support it then cool if not then why put this guy down? most of the guys who know what they are talking about know from experience that u of o will not let u do it there...so all in all fuck ottawa u and find another venue.
