Rail Jam in Downtown Toronto

So I know Spinoza mentioned it, but do folks want to coordinate for Friday night drinks after at some place? I'd be down if others are.
 
Just went and checked it out - don't get your hopes too high. There's only two like approx. 15 foot down bars and a tiny jib thing between them. There's a pretty big height from the top of the lips to the rails, I feel Luke it's mainly catered to snowboarding. Either way should be a blast! I'll head over after class this afternoon.
 
The drop in is pretty good for speed, but you have to really pop. I'm probably not going to hit it again today, but I'll be hanging around. Green matix hat, blue wool sweater. I was there earlier with the beater 1080s.
 
the judging format was wack, whatever though. I had fun watching. Who ended up winning? I left when the rain set in. Hopefuly it was that kid with the rockered Coreupts, whoever you are you were killin it!

super nice vibe to the night but yea judging format was so messed up - coulda been a lot better in my opinion. over all a sick night though
 
The pics on Facebook are cool, I'm happy to see skiers showed up since lots of people in dt Toronto don't realize skiers can do rails
 
i didn't bring my board and i was going to get one from the tent to fool around but they didn't have any boots left :( that dude with dreads was doing some nasty transfers from the barrier to the rails, he killed it
 
I hate to be choosing favorites, but without a doubt Lucas Vianna should have made it into the finals as opposed to Draper.

The way that they ran the contest was horseshit, one v. one elimination? You really had no room for error. I mean hell, I lost in the first round because I fell on my trick, and a small kid advanced because he can straight slide a rail? I mean, yeah, according to the rail jam format I lost fair and square, but in Jam Format, it would have been a different story. Not to mention the fucking nerves that everyone was having, as soon as the guys running the event told us it would be head to head, as opposed to jam format, the smiles on everyone's faces slowly faded away. I really feel like a lot of changes need to be made to make this a more memorable rail jam.

 
But, a double switch-up to a fall is STILL a lot more technical than a slide to switch-out, even if he didn't land it. That's what I'm talking about. The one try thing is bullshit. LV has stomped that trick multiple times, but he bobbled and caught his ski on the one time that happened to count. If he had gotten a second try I'm sure he would have landed it, or done something equally as difficult.
 
And also, don't interpret what I'm saying as a translation to you are a bad skier, because it's not. I am more so disgruntled about how the competition part was run than people's skill abilities.
 
Im almost glad that I didn't make in down in time for qualifiers on friday because the contest format was fucking retarded and a complete waste of time for everyone that attended. It was basically a joke compared to Saturday, which was easily one of the best days of skiing I have ever had, pure jam format, so many insane tricks being thrown by everyone. Amazing day!
 
No, they only changed to contest format which gave all of us the chance to try out best tricks, and they did indeed go down. Like, the tricks that went off yesterday made friday's comp seem like a joke.
