everyone says that they hate racers, i am not a racer but why do you have to dislike them?? its ritarded that you hate a different respect of the sport. Uh, i am a newschooler but i hate racers because they wear spandex....come on stop being immature little bitches.

i used to race and i think it helped me become a better skiier. i never wore that spandex shit. it looks gay. i raced in a sweatshirt. me and a friend would sneak into the park everyonce and a while

You can still become a good skier without racing, but from hearing about race training from friends, it helps a lot and is a good foundation to have. It's not absolutely necessary to be a good skier.

Racing weeds out the dumb ones. The majority of purist racers are jerks and will make fun of you for skiing park. Racing brings in kids like homestead, who race to become better skiers, then realize the freedom of park and big mountain skiing. Therefore we get skiers who are good all round skiers in the park, and the jerks (not all of them are jerks - but for the most part) stay on the racing course.

Seriously these posts just need to be taken off when they are put up, if you search the archive this has been discussed way too many times. People will always have their opinions whatever they may be, but you ski for yourself and not to impress others. So basically who gives a shit what you do as long as your on the snow with skis on your boots.

just remember, if racing didnt exist, skiing probably wouldnt even be anything near how big it is today. it was the only thing keeping the sport alive for about 25 years

people hate racers because the stereotypical racer is a cocky asshole that makes fun of everyone that doesn't race/races poorly.

My school got a race team this year. The racing wasn't so great but skiing sure was. I was in the park like all the time.

i can hate that respect of skiing just like i freeride and downhill mountain bike and i hate cross country cause it looks gay, although cross country bikers gereally are cooler to hang around with than racers

racers race cause its what they like to do, newschool skiers are doing different things, but for the same reasons, so why should there be any conflict? there are plenty of asshole park rats too
