Racers??

a lot of us are arrogent dicks. but there are tons of racers who are really cool every one is out there to ski, and have a good time, so dont rip on racers and they wont rip on you
 
most of the racers I know are really cool and have a lot of fun doing what they do, not to mention they have a ton of skiing skill. Also, gotta love those racer girls in skin suits!
 
I used to be a straight up racer. Raced all my life, however i found my way into the park and have not raced ever since. I think some racers who think they are good are the fags, however At the level that i raced at all the kids were pretty tight. So What japanda said, Skiing is skiing.
 
i was a racer too got to admitt. i was pretty bored, then i knew jared, knew nipples and his bro ridge, then like to see him throw 900 when he was 10...was soo jealous learned how to freestyle ski now i can front and things. racing then was da stuff. (when i was 7.) i usd to beat every on ey about 5 sec. gave up went to this.
 
where im from most racers race because their parents made them, so they race becuase their parents forced it into them, causuing them to hate skiing and bitch about it all the time
 
I raced until i was about 10 or something then freeskied for a few years than started park skiing. I wa son my school race team and its not something i would like to do all the time but its fun to get out and do it everyonce and awhile. Also all the racers on my team are super cool but i have met some pretty big assholes that race before
 
well i still am a racer, im capitain of the HS slalom team, pretty much i practice for like an hour and a half then go to the park till the hill closes 2 days a week, and im just skiing park another 3 days of the week.

Racings fun, its a good challenge and HS isnt serious at all until u get to sections/state...and its a great excuse to miss school
 
i gotta admit, i still race for my school team, but that's just on the side. every kid there is pretty chill. they don't mind my freestyle, except one or two think that i'm trying to be gangster with how i talk, which i'm not at all. one thing i do know is that they are better skiers than me but share the same love of snow i have.
 
JibHonkey, thats exactly it. Most racers race b/c their parents. I know that was my situation. I lost interest b/c my dad pushed me so hard. Hopefully no parents ruin skiing for any child. The Park has a lot to offer, expecially in the midwest...
 
I HATE all racers. They're complete dicks and think they're better than us because they race down ice hitting gates. Like seriously WTF is their problem?
 
some of them are good but some are complete dicks,like those younger with tight suits who think theyre awesome and dudes
 
i have no problem with racers besides the fact that parents are more involved with their kids if they race. what i mean is there is a race every week end at smuggs because of the parents. but there are only a couple shitty comps for us. not to mention they pack up the lodge and t bar... but thats like saying immigrants steal jobs or something. so basically i dont hate racers, i just wish our skiing was considered more like a sport too. wow i cant believe i wrote such a serious post to such a stupid thread
 
Skiing is turning. Racers are very damn good at turning. Therefore, most racers are probably better at skiing than you.
 
Racing is soooo fun. Charging down the mountain never gets boring. But the parents and officials were too fucking uptight about every fathomable detail the "ski racing lifestyle" so I quit.
 
one of my good friends i areacer ubt the little gapper racers on the race team make me want to punch a baby they cut my friend off in a comp in a tuck going trough the corse hhaaha some are chill others are dicks just like us
 
I race, racing is another fun aspect of skiing. feeling the Gs is super fun especially on a nice crisp pair of slalom skis.

some racers are gapers but others kill it, especially ex-racers. i started racing so i could ski every day at school and so that i could really take my skiing to the next level and it's totally changed the way i ski. if you learn to adapt what you learned as a racer to freeskiing it puts you at a higher level. some racers suck but it pisses me off when people make the generalization that racers suck just because they race, i see plenty of jibbers who faceplant in pow, can barely ski down a groomer, and are ridiculously unstable skierseveryone skis differently regardless of what type of skiing they do so don't make generalizations. i do both and i don't hate myself
 
There are a couple types of racers. I'm stoked that all you people actually know some that are racing because they love what they're doing and would want nothing more than to speed down an icy slope and hit gates.
However, the ones I've known and met are generally not people I'd like to be around. The local Vancouver mountains are around 5 minutes out of the rich area of town, so that makes a prime place for elitist families to get their spoiled kids to compete in a higher class sport against each other. The kids whine and complain about pretty much everything. Most of them don't look too stoked, and the parents and coaches are often fat, out of shape, and just showing off their kids' talents. The whole scene makes me sick. Nothing against the skiing part, but I can't stand the way they view the skiing. To each their own, but I want no part of it.
 
Wow. another racing thread.

Some racers are super chill and kill it when they do park. I race when I have to if I didn't race, my parents wouldn't let me ski, simple as that I would loose my sponsors and my skiing. I ski park as much as I can I enjoy it more. There are a group of us in our race team that freestyle together, ski pow and just chill. But as in every type of skiing there are assholes who think they are better than everyone else and can only race those we don't like.

This is my opinon but still waiting on that karma drain. Why do I continue to admit i race haha.
 
You dont need sponsors or your parents dictating in order to ski. Do what you love, if it happens to be ski racing, then fine. But if it is something else, at somepoint you have to fly the coup

SWEET BABY JESUS, I hate when they crowd lift lines and close runs, that makes me want to push em off a cliff....
 
That is the main thing that pisses me off about racing and sponsorships, they limit your freedom and to me skiing is all about freedom.
I joined a High School race team once upon a time and at first I dug it, I could leave school to ski legitimately, but then once we were not allowed to freeski and we had to train and run gates all the time I quit and I started ditching school more.
Also, I do not understand people who feel that it is "fun" because you could always find somewhere to go faster than on any race course.
I do not like a lot of racers, ya the ones with the big egos, but I also have a few friends that race , and friends that used to race, and I do not like the majority of park rats either.
Lastly, of coarse some racers shred, but the best ones you won't be able to tell that they are a racer when they are freeriding.
 
they just had nationals at our mountain and with that came a bunch o powder but guess what the racers were doing?? bitching and moaning about the powder instead of hitting it, i mean some were cool and shralped it up but otherwise it was the same deal
i got buddies that are racers though and i used to be a mighty mite
 
Well, they wear them for better reason than you wear your tall tees at

least. The skintight suits make them go much faster, while tall tees

dont make you a better skier.

Where I'm from, most racers has a pair of twntips and go freeski when they have the oppurtonity.

why are there so many girls on here who post racing threads???

im on a high school race team and i screw around in the park the whole time and im on varsity, its a JOKEE. racing just kinda blows
