who on ns races or used to race?

i admit, i used to race but i gave up because i would never know wich gates to go through, i would always just go straight down the hill, no one said anything, they probably thought i was retarded

whatever, i thought they were retarded too

i was a state level high school racer

however now that im in college i am happy to not join their club team

much rather ski on my own time

i once went down the one closed run whilst they were doing a race i went straight down and at the end sprayed all the racers...lol

i raised when i was way young but i hated it. I didnt even like skiing that much at the time, it was just something i did EVERY weekend with my family.

going straight down the course sounds like something i would do. ive never raced in my life nor will i ever. ill just be a parkrat

idk but too long, last year was my last year racing with ussa and fis. but i am still going to hs race

oops

i race for school, only way i can ski every day and it's actually kinda fun, in practice that is, races kinda suck

me and by buddies always enter into the local races with our twins and we do pretty good most of the time. I got third in a skier cross race and won some skullcrushers haha

i used to race, its how i got good at skiing. I race skiercross now though, which is super sick

I raced. i haz the skilz to make mad turnz on mah skiz.

racing was most definitely the best thing ive ever done for my skiing.

used to race quite a bit in high school although i never took it super seriously. got into freeskiing after that but i still love to charge the groomers every now and then!

i raced for 6yrs.. bllahh
i know it had a benefit to my skiing.. but it just wasnt my thing.. my dad forced me to do it.. no fun. but i dont hate on it

i used to race. and be really good

now if i go in a race course i get the same feeling as wearing a tight, itchy sweater. i just want out, its so constricting

I went to highschool in IL and we didnt have a race program. I wish we had, now that Im older, work in a shop, and ski a bunch, Im looking at joining a beer league at my local hill.

I raced for my 4 years of high school. I was captain of the team my senior year and had a lot of fun doing it. Went to state junior and senior year too. Good memories, got real good at handling my skis, good times. This is a picture of me turning some gates on a really fucking cold day a couple years back.

hahaha that is the steeziest i've seen racing be, you do not seem to be super intense, which is nice to see in a racer
i hate those kids who take it super seriously

I used to love racing until I noticed the whole freeskiing scene and decided to abandon ski racing and join in. I would never regret racing, it made me ski as well as I do which is better than most of the kids on this site. Most kids on here have no real skiing form and just have that park rat form.

I raced for like 4 years, im a senior in highschool now and have decided im done, but only because i hate getting up at 5 am or earlier on race days which werem saturdays (my dad was coach, so he set course before they opened). Plus i found that since i was practicing with the team all the time i didnt freeski much, and on raceday i would sit on the hill all day waiting for my two runs. But most of all i have no friends on the team anymore. One of the worst parts about racing are the kids that it atracts, although there were some pretty cool people up there, most of them were kids that had been doing it since they were walking and were just wayy too into it, although this made it even more satisfying to beat them. Although i think im going to miss it i mean you can only ski the same shitty ass park so many time waiting for a pow day.

Procrastination, somehow i can sit on NS and type huge replies for hours but not a one page paper

raced for my high school and did USSA races for 6 years....as soon as ski practice was over id walk out to the parking lot take off my team jacket and grab the twins and ride park till the hill closed

i race on my high school team with a bunch of buddies cuz even though were parkrats were still some of the best racers in the school, and we get to get out of school like twice a week. we basically show up 30 seconds before our start time, cruise on down with our baggy clothes and park skis, then head back to the park rather than be in school.

If you'd consider that racing.....

Ski racing is just like regular skiing but without the fun. And NOTHING, i mean nothing is sweeter than the shorts over the GS suit look that stick chasers love. Racer steeze indeed.

I raced from when I was 7 and stopped when I turned 16. I loved all of it except for the last year. I had to change over to a different mountain because I grew out of Mad River's race program and the Sugarbush weekend program is shit. There was no team camaraderie and I wanted to shift my focus to freeskiing.

I'm glad that I raced and am also glad that I switched over.

my sisters were racers. i wasent really into racing, i tried nastar every once and a while. i just really started gettin into park last year

raced for 5 years all the way up to 2nd year J3. it was the best thing that i couldve done for my skiing. made me super confident anywhere on the hill and i learned a shitload about becoming a better skiier. wasnt into the whole scene after a while but it was definitely a great time dont hate on racing especially if youve never done it

my fav is the 50 year old guys that are maaaddd tall, and think every day they are at the mountain they are in a fucking olympic slalom race, and if you get too close, that think you are trying to beat them in a imaginary competition

you guys should have seen my steez at states last year

rasta tape all over my helmet, left shiner, and left pole

and we were the only team of park rats

we basically raced for the trips and passes

I raced untill i was in middle school and had mad fun, every once in a while during the season ill poach a slalom course with my twin tips and no gear haha. But people who hate on racers in my opinion are just ignorant you cant deny that going fast making hard turns and knocking down gates isnt fun. Its still skiing...

I still race, and get payed a decent amount to coach racing, but as soon as i'm done i hit the park, where i live the parks are super shitty and its no fun to spend the whole day in them anyway so racing is a good timekiller
