Race binding on park skis?

Seachbared and googled but no luck. I just got some used 182 bluehouse antics for my park skis this season and need to get some bindings for them. I thought i could get some FKS from the ski team, but they dont have any more unfortunately. They have some older Rossi 180 pros, but i dont think shops will still mount those. and they also have a bunch of marker race bindings that i could buy for really cheap. What are the pros/cons of putting a race binding on a park ski? how different would it be from spending more to get some FKS? i know FKS have the turntable heel, but besides that is it really that different? I have some STH 14's on my ARV's would race binding be that much different.

I would say just go with the 180 pros but do you really need an 18 din binding on a park ski?
 
judging by the fact that he has to ask this question, no he does not need anywhere close to an 18 din all metal binding
 
Dude I run Look PX14 Race bindings on my 4FRNT Click!s and I've never had a problem with them. maybe a little heavier, but you don't really feel that on your ski. I bought it because they have a good amount of metal in them so I know they're not gonna break on me. My favorite bindings ever, over the STH that I had.
 
race bindings work just as good if not better then other bindings. they handle better at speed. theres really not much differnce

thanks for the helpful response. No i do not need the 18 din all metal binding, but thats what i have available for really cheap so I thought I would ask. I dont liking making threads asking these questions, but i had searchbared and googled. Does anyone know if the 180 pros are still endemified? (will shops still mount them?)
 
Even if an old binding is still indemnified, it might not pass a release test. Depending on the shop (my old shop included) they will remove the failed bindings from the skis for liability reasons, meaning you now have holes in your ski. ALWAYS have the seller test the bindings before you buy them. Otherwise, this is the risk you take when using older, used bindings.
 
so would i be better off going with say a marker comp 16? they have those all over the place that i could grab pretty cheap.
 
Hey pal, didn't realize telling someone their response is bullshit is frowned upon. The guy asked for help, not some little kid to come on and tell him that because they are race bindings, they do not belong on park skis.

How does it feel being a bitchy little kid who thinks their cool for responding like you did?
 
Potentially yes. Every year, someone tries to sue Skirack because the shop tried to do a "favor" for the bro customer and it ends up going sideways for reasons beyond the shop's control. So, lesson learned and Skirack and other shops are way more precautious when it comes to anything binding related. Theres just too much risk for mom & pop shops nowadays...

The situation i spoke of earlier would be a good example. Now, good shops will ask more questions about old bindings before it gets to that bad situation of, "oh, these bindings actually failed and we can't let them leave the shop mounted on your ski because of it." Before they mount them, they inform the customer of the potential risks and let the customer decide if they want to proceed or not. Most problems occur because information is not clearly communicated between both parties. Improve the communication and less problems will happen for all involved.
 
Just because it is cheap does not mean it is right for you. You don't need an 18 din binding, it would be far more dangerous for you to use one then one suited for the din you need
 
I realize this, I ride at 11 din (im 6'0 175-180), so a 16 din binder would not be ridiculous for me to use. I would be in the middle of the din range, where i want to be.

Just want to make sure: I am fine using a race binding on a park ski (a marker comp 16 would be fine?) I know i dont need all that Din, and i am not planning riding them beyond what i ride my STH 14s at on my ARV's.

I know this thread has made my intelligence seem questionable at best, but i appreciate the help.
