R.I.P. ACL

Long story short, im convinced that i tore my ACL yesterday during my rugby game. Things swollen like fuck, cant bend it, etc. Decided that it would be a great idea to go out last night, which turned out to be alot of fun at the time, but not now. Went to the doctors today, x-rays came up negative so its not a broken bone. BUT they said they noticed a small chip missing from around my knee cap. They said this is usually the result of an ACL tear
My question, i know that the ACL is the worst of your knee ligaments to tear, but why?also, if anyone has ever torn their ACL tell me about recovery and surgery experiences. Thanks

Idk man but when i was younger i chipped a peice of my knee cap playing soccer and didnt have to have nething major happen. i cant remember if it was missing or just chipped and out of place. but maybe something similar is what happened to you, hopefully. i do remember it was a little swollen and it hurt to bend.

i fully tore my acl in january and had surgery 2 weeks later. have surgery asap and dont be stupid, listen to you physical therapist and your doctor. thats about it. otherwise you better get some shit to do , youre going to be out of commission for a while. good luck bro, + vibes oh and its a full 6 month injury, so be ready for it

ya im kinda in a tricky spot cause im at school right now. i dont wanna have to drop out this term to get surgury cause i have 5 weeks left. but im def gonna get it as soon as possible

i tore my miniscus and partially tore my mcl while straining the shit out of my tcl and acl.... (really, REALLY fucked up landing on skis...) so i didnt experience a acl tear but good luck dude...

and avoid tearing your rotator cuff at all costs... hurts like a fucking BITCH

i under rotated a corked 5 and tore my ACL completely through, and my MCL halfway through. I could walk after like 3 months probably but it didn't feel 100% till at least 1 year and a few months afterwards.
It fucking sucks, I hope you didn't tear it man.

Tore my left ACL over a year ago and had surgery about 3 months after the tear. surgery and recovery wernt too bad, it just sucks not being able to do anything fun for a while. I think I tore my right ACL a couple months ago but haven't gotten an MRI yet. I don't think there is any negitive effect of waiting to get surgery, just be careful because you are more at risk to tear the meniscus or other ligaments without the ACL support.

My buddy messed his up first play from scrimmage our senior year of football...and he got surgery a week later we went to get him from the hospital and chilled with him at his house and let me tell you that looked painful...they gave him this machine where he was required to bend it more and more every day to a certain angle wow...he cried every time it was crazy.
