Quitting my job

So Ive had about 4 or 5 jobs in my working lifetime now, but Ive never had to quit a job before. Not because I was fired, but It was all seasonal jobs and I would just not contact them the following year. ANYWAYS, Ive been working at this job now for almost a year, and Im fed up with it and my time here is dwindling down.

Since I have never actually had to have give my 2 weeks, Im very new to it and just do not know how to approach this situation other than just saying, "Soooooooo, ummm, yeahh, Im just not feeling it here anymore and umm this is my 2 weeks mofuckaa". And of course I do not want to do that because I chances are I will probably need them for a reference..

So I (obviously) come to Newschoolers, my go-to brain to pick for information about anything.... How do I go about giving my 2 weeks notice to a job I dont have any other reason of leaving other than I just dont like working there anymore?

Thank you in advance for dropping knowledge into my cerebral cortex!

write a formal resignation with vague but personal reason why you request termination. Fairly straight forward, but do not burn any bridges even if you do not plan to work at that company or in the field again, you never know how word of mouth possibly can be spread. If you can end on a higher note, you may have a solid refferal aswell. Just be prompt and to the point with your letter and keep in mind you are not the first or the last person that has quit that company.

Say you've realized you've achieved what you wanted to achieve at the job, see yourself heading in a new direction, are grateful for the time you've spent there, but it's time to move on to a new company to gain new experience/new skills.

Thats all you really need to say. Don't feel bad. Make sure you are 100% comfortable and confident with leaving, and make sure you know you are doing this for you - otherwise you risk feeling guilty, and things might drag on longer than they need to, drawing out that feeling of closure.

I find it easier to express myself in words so I would probably write a letter and hand it to your supervisor at a good time

if its not a really important job, they probably wont even be upset but just say something like i'm ready to look into other job opportunities so i guess ill be giving you my 2 weeks. Its not horribly awkward unless your boss/manager is like your best friend or something. people at my job quit like every couple weeks so its not that big of a deal.
