Quick question about avchd

How can i import it from my cam (to free up space on my cam) onto my external hard drive, so that i can view it and sort it into different folders (like "Good footy" and "throw away footy" footy for example). as the title says, its in avchd format and im on a mac.

log & transfer it into a file you can dump and view on the external drive
 
Well logging and transferring will convert to an MOV you can watch and use, you can also label in that process and it will dump it into your capture scratch for your project file. Then, within that file everything will be labeled and you can do whatever with them.
 
i was explaining this to him before

his problem was he didnt know how to access/use his capture scratch to find the converted .mov's in order to sort them

should be good now though
