Hello!

I am hoping some of you will help me with a story that I am writing about terrain parks. The focus is on Vermont, so if you ski there, even better. Let me know what you think about the questions below or tell me other stuff that I did not ask about but is important to you in regards to skiing.

Thanks for your help. You can either post your comments here, or email me heather@skivermont.com. I hope to use your information for background information or quotes. If you respond here, I will most likely use your screen name. If you email me, feel free to include personal info that I can use in the article. Thanks, Heather

QUESTIONS

How long have you been skiing in parks?

What got you interested?

When you are skiing, are you competitive, supportive, encouraging, critical of others? Is there a big community aspect?

Do they think of yourself as being distinct from the rest of the skiing population, more closely tied to snowboarding?

How would you describe yourself or the typical person in the park - style, interests, etc.

What do you think the male/female breakdown is in interest?

Is competition an important aspect of the sport for you?

QUESTIONS

How long have you been skiing in parks? 5 years

What got you interested? the challenge of completing a feature, such as a rail or box, or stoming a 360 etc, plus watching ski movies and cool ski graphics on twin tips

When you are skiing, are you competitive, supportive, encouraging, critical of others? Is there a big community aspect? there is a big community aspect, i always si with my friends and we always encourage each other and give each other tips.

Do they think of yourself as being distinct from the rest of the skiing population, more closely tied to snowboarding? not really, i can still ski down any trail on a mountain with ease and carve tight lines etc

How would you describe yourself or the typical person in the park - style, interests, etc.

i stay simple, doing moderately easy stuff like flat boxes and rails but really smooth, landing switch. also switching onto rails is cool too.

What do you think the male/female breakdown is in interest?

there are definitely more males than females on twin tips, but that is starting at change lately ive seen.

Is competition an important aspect of the sport for you?

not at all. i do try and go big to impress myself and my friends sometimes but im never one to argue if my trick was better. as long as its steezy its all good.
