Questions about getting pulled over.

So I know there are about a million threads on this, but I got pulled over today and I have some questions.

First of all, if he was driving towards me when he turned on his lights, could he have used his radar? He marked the ticket very ambiguously between estimated speed and radar. Also if I have a junior operators, will I lose my license? Thanks. By the way I live in MA.

So I was going to post a photo saying goddammit. I typed in "goddammit" into google images. This popped up. I'm confused

yes he can use his radar

yes he can give you a ticket

in most states tickets given to junior operators also come with a license suspension

It was a 35 mile area and he says I was going 70. I don't think it was that fast but I'm not 100%. I drive a 1998 Honda odyssey so it's not particularly easy to speed.

Yeah his radar will pick you up even if he is driving the opposite way.Its usually set so if someone is going 8 or 9 mph over the limit it will go off. And it really depends on how fast you were going

Uh oh. Apparently she's 16 and it's from a Norwegian film called "Turn Me On Goddammit." Am I going to get pulled over by a mod for pedophilia?

Most radars have a +3 -3mph difference than your actual speed. I'm sure you were speeding if he clocked you at 70

it's not hard to judge speed without using a radar if you were going 30+

be thankful you didn't get arrested 30+ in Maine is criminal speeding

I know I was speeding, but the form as best I can describe it was two boxes next to the words radar and estimate and he half circled the top one and sort of circled the bottom one so it almost looks like a really loopy E.

Go into the station ask to talk to the officer. Ask for a reduction form and ask if he will sign off on it. Have any friends with parents as cops they can help.

Show up to court if you went 40+ over the limit your looking at about a 700$+ ticket they may be nice and knock it down to 500ish and you license is going to be taken away.

Should have pulled the whole " sorry officer my cat was making a weird sound in 5th gear. I was just speeding for a second to see if I could here what was wrong." Or... " Shit my mom used my car to go to Canada and had the kph on instead of mph."

Are you serious? You got booked going 40 miles over the speed limit and it's only 350? Fuck this, I'm moving there

I hope you do lose your license, because you're clearly still a child. Seriously, why the fuck would you do 70 in a 35? That's beyond excessive.

My friend did almost exactly the same thing here in Foxboro, MA, your home state. Same speeds and everything. He got his licensed suspended for half a year and had to take a driver re-training class. As Mike Ehrmantraut would say, you're boned.

Not to mention the hefty fucking ticket he had to pay and the rise in insurance costs. I'd rather get in an at-fault accident in Mass rather than get caught speeding. I nailed a telephone pole head-on going 40 when I was a new driver because I fell asleep at the wheel, and I just got a slap on the wrist. No license suspension, no fine, just 2 points on my insurance, whereas you'll be getting 6 for this infraction. Sorry for being the bearer of bad news.

well you see he was going 35mph towards you and you were going 35 mph toward him so when you passed him it the radar picked you up as going 70 miles per hour there for you were not speeding but going the exact speed limit.

Hahahahahahaha you drive a fucking Honda Odyssey? The mental picture of you fools driving that thing is just too fucking hilarious.

If what you are saying was true, the radar would pick up 0 mph because they were driving in opposite directions so the vector forces of each car would cancel each other out. Regardless, it doesn't work that way, and he was probably going at or close to 70.

Exactly if you think a judge is going to let you drive out of the parking lot after court, when a 16 year old went double the speed limit........

I'm not saying he's right but the way radar works is it measures the time in between the radar waves give feedback so if it did work that way it would be measuring it at 70

Im no scientist but wouldn't they have to be going the same speed and be side by side in order for the speed to be 0mph

Definitely wasn't going 35. But that's my question. And I already know I'm fucked but at this point I'm just curious. Like how would the radar work? I can only assume it is magic.

one time i was going 65 in a 30mph zone and the cop was mad so we had a fistfight and i won so he let me go and let me shoot his guns.

Maybe it's got like GPS or something, so it knows how fast it's going, and can calculate from that.

Question time. Were you actually aloud to drive away from that? With your license still with you? Here you would have been eshowed in the back of the cop car and gone to the policestation, your car would probably have been taken away (if it was your car) and you wouldn't able to re-take your license again for at least 2 years.
