Question on the matrix

in the second movie when Neo tells Morpheus the truth about past "ones" and other revelations,

Neo says there is a whole nother layer of protection.

Is this saying that the world outside of the matrix is another( lack of a bettter word ) matrix ?

Yes. They live in the matrix at first, and the world where they think they've escaped the Matrix is just another Matrix which was created to satisfy the suspicions of the humans in the matrix.
 
so you mean the world in the third movie where they're in the ship and heading back to the dock before the robots break into it is the real world?

otherwise i didn't pick up on this at all and i've seen all three
 
yes the world where they have plugs on their arms, rags for clothes, and look like refugees is a layer of protection the machines created to satisfy the desires of humans who sought to remove themselves from THE MATRIX.
 
just gonna put it out there, i understood and enjoyed the first one, but i haven't a fucking clue what was going on in the other two. will have to re-watch them now that i've discovered this haha
 
Matrix Plot

1. Neo's self discovery / engages audience

2. Neo's Self recognition / full of info

3. Tied up lose ends / frames the story well

have her sit down and watch the matrix, or terminator, or Vanilla Sky
