alright, no idea if this is possible but i figured someone here will know the answer...

i just got a laptop that i'll take to college next year. i have a ton of music downloaded to my computer at home and was wondering if theres anyway to copy all these mp3 files from my comp. at home to my laptop....dont feel like downloading 250 songs all over again. any ideas?

...

1. Network the comps and transfer files

2. Create a FTP server, than dl them on the laptop

3. Burn to CD, than copy onto labtop

4. Save to floppys, than copy on labtop

theres a cord that you can buy, and you just hook one end up to the laptop, and one to the desktop, or whatever the other computer is, and its transfers all the files you want.

250 songs will easily fit on a cd. But don't try create a music cd. Just make a data cd, put the mp3 files on, and then copy them to the laptop's HD.

where the fuck is andy? i would think he wouldve already replyed to this post

and by luge he means sitting on his snowboard and constantly digging his feet into the snow to slow down as the snowbladers pass him

haha

the cd's would be easiest but the direct link between the computers would be the fastest but it might cost alittle money

Dude, just turn your laptop off, and then turn it back on again. It solves everything!

yeti, that was mean. maybe he has 100s of hour of free time to transfer one file at a time... all of his 1.4meg songs... hahaha!

DAMN GLOBAL WARMING!

drop your pants blow your load all over the laptop's keyboard and yell out all the names of the songs you want.

You don't even have to have them on your PC, name any song you want and you'll get it :)

don't forget that he'll have to compress the mp3's (which is in itself a futile effort) and then archive span them over individual disks. heheheh yeah 100s of hours i think is an understatement :-)

Ok, heres what you do. You get one of those big rare earth magnets... the really strong kind. And you open your computer up. Then you look for the harddrive, and put the magnet up to the harddrive. This sucks all the MP3's onto the magnet and they will stay there... Then, you go to the computer you are transferring to, open that one up, and put the magnet on top of that harddrive. Then start the computer up and let that harddrive spin, sucking up all the mp3's from the magnet... Its the perfect solution.

Oh yeah, and make sure to store the magnet on top of a monitor, or a very expensive TV. This helps it 'keep its magnetism'...

Just turn it off and then turn it back on again. If that doesn't work, hit the computer until the file thingys transfer.

why dont you just hook up an ethernet cable between them and transfer the files? thats what i did.

Taste Death. Live Life.

the easiest simplest way to do this is to create a direct link between the two computers via a ethernet cable HOWEVER this must be a CROSSOVER cable not a normal cat-5, also to do this both computers must have ethernet adapters. if you have problems feel free to message me.

Gotta love the midwest

I helped a buddy out the way andy says to do it... it works real great. Those magnets can hold up to 1000 songs too.

wow, i must say.. the cable is a GREAT idea...
