Question about twixtor

it takes a while. but so does any other plugin. I run a gtx with 8gigs on my desktop and it takes just as long as my base acer laptop to render.

Oh and dont use it.

Motion 5 is $50 and can do the same thing as Twixtor now using Optical Flow. Shoot at 720 60p with a shutter at least 1/1600 and then retime to 15% and choose Optical Flow.

the only appropriate time to use twixtor, is as one guy up there said, for ramp slow mo.... and even then, no more than 50% back...

okay i really don't care when it's necessary, that's not my question at all. Not trying to sound like a dick but this argument happens every day. I'm wondering how long it takes people to render a clip they twixtor. can anyone help, please? it's taking me about 20 minutes per clip and this seems way too long..

Nope that seems accurate. Yesterday I put together my first edit and used twixtor in almost every shot, took a solid 18 hrs to render like 3/4 of it.

lol-at-this-guy-thinking-i-made-an-entire-edit-with-twixtor.jpeg

i was waiting for somebody to absoultely rage at me, but w/e

I guarantee you guys will use too much, and not give a crap about the massive amounts of warping some of the shots will most likely have.

i don't care why you don't think he should use twixtor.. some of us like the way it looks and that's enough of a reason to use it. stop acting like your opinion matters.

i don't know who you are i joined a few weeks ago, you just seem like you hate on everything

Twixtor is cliche and amateur as fuck, i dont care if you "like how it looks" its pointless, overused and drags along shit. Plus, 90% of the people who use twixtor just use to to slow it down to like 10% and its always got mad warping and blurring. Shooting 60p, conform to 24, thats plenty slow. There is no practical use for twixor, since its so glitchy, unless you have some dumb ass paying you to make some stupid edit of super slow mo shit. If someone really wants slow motion and they are serious about it, they'll hire someone with a red/phantom.

Sorry that the more experienced, more knowledgable person gave you an opinion and advice. You're definitely right, I'm definitely wrong, you DEFINITELY know what you're talking about. Your edit is gonna be so banger right when the dubstep drops and the skier is moving sooo slow and its like hes just paused in the air then 30 seconds later he lands...

don't toot your own horn. honestly, there are plenty of edits you make that aren't very "professional" looking. I have my opinion and you have yours. let me thread go back to my question about twixtor

Dude, you're so right. I'm sorry I ever challenged your opinion, its obviously the right one.

Dude, you're so witty, i can't believe i ever tried to talk down on you.

So who are you?

I wouldn't worry about the hate,

every little kid on here takes what eheath says proclaiming it as the word of god and has it tattooed on their forearms like the ten commandments so they can assess their responses to a thread accordingly.

Yes twixor is overused by kids in ski edits, no it doesn't effect me or anyone else besides they might take 2 seconds out of their day skipping through an edit. NS needs to stop being so cynical, if you believe filming is an art form you should let ppl do whatever they want and not try to control their work. Some of the best films and art of the century we're done breaking the rules so fuck off and shut up no body cares about ur stupid little clickish, cynical, highschool bullshit rules let people do what they want.

Art is also cool when the pieces are unique. With twixtor, you end up with a bunch of identical snore fests which convert a single trick into a 20 second ordeal.

Not to mention the fact that twixtor decimates footage with warping. Twixtor is played.

can we please just let people do what they want with twixtor without all the twixtor haters invading every thread. it's pretty simple.. an opinion is an opinion stop forcing yours on others

In this case I'd agree with eheath ONE HUNDRED percent. I enjoy slow motion, adds a more dramatic effect, but when I see an edit that a 14 year old made using twixtor in every shot it makes me cringe. I don't know why you would second guess eheath's opinion about filming, considering he is WAY more experienced than you, and in this case I think he does not need to get off his high horse. He's right, you're wrong, don't use twixtor it looks tacky.

honestly i'm not a fan of most of the work that eheath does. if he's hating twixtor so much why would he have bought the fs100 which has 120fps.

here is his test edit, i suggest he tries out twixtor because it looks a hell of a lot better.

hahahaha

There are countless reasons (amazing low light capability, interchangeable lenses, reduced aliasing, etc) that the fs100 is amazing, the frame rate is not one of them. I don't think anyone who knew anything about cameras would be dumb enough to purchase one for the low quality extra frame rates.

Read the description on vimeo. This is clearly a test, not an "edit" like you think it is. He knows the limitations of this feature, and you should stop posting.

well regardless it was a shitty "test" if that's what you want to call it. If that was 120fps I think he was doing something wrong......not using twixtor

You are really that thick-skulled? That was the slowest slow motion that would ever be practical in any use of filming. You need to realize that you don't always need twixtor let alone slow motion to make your shots look "cool". The slow motion in that edit was fine, realistically there's no practical use to go slower. I don't really understand why you are being so critical on a 'test' edit. We get it, you're a 13 year old keyboard hero who thinks he's an m&a know-it-all. Truth is you really aren't. Before coming to more assumptions I would like to see some of your edits to further evaluate.

hahahahahahah how is a "test" shitty? did you read the description? you obviously didnt, id go back and read it then come back and post.

i wrote

"Shot with the "smooth slow motion" mode on my fs100 which comes out to 120fps/1080i60i in post. Put shots in a 720p timeline to try and preserve some quality but as you can see in full screen that the images resolution is unusable for online content. This mode could work well if used in a SD timeline for dvd, but while you save the quality of these shots you degrade your other shots, kind of pointless"

did you miss the fact that i saids its not usable even at an SD level? it was a fucking test dude, i had NEVER used the feature before and i did not buy an fs100 for the feature. You need to give the fuck up and tell me who you really are, this alais is getting fucking old.

You are seriously stupid as shit, I was joking about saying I made a twixtor edit, (Read my next post everybody), but you seem to have a hard on for it. Just listen to what heath says, then kill youself, I dont know about anybody else, but I think you should stick to NSG

bahahahahaha. you're honestly pretty damn retarded. are you really trying to argue that a shitty little plug-in that distorts, warps, and alters the original image in the interpolation of missing frames is BETTER than a slowing down of REAL, unaltered, unwarped, undistorted video? Wow. really. i'd agree, fake and warped is always much better than real and smooth.
