question about skis popping off the lip

i keep hearing about twin tip skis that pop off the lip, what does this mean what makes the skis pop??? and i also heard the springy-ness wears off the ski. do u have to make the ski pop or will it automaticaly do it???

it will a bit but it differs from ski to ski like a poppy ski might be the tm's. but with any ski you can make your own pop obviously
