Question? About ski longevity

I have the 04 PE"S how long before you need a new pair? I know there's no scientific answer but how long can you hang on to ski's for considering I ski 40 to 50 times a year

Hopefully I will be skiing the Big K in VT until January, and the other K in CA for the rest of the season.

I usually get about a season or more out of skis so prolly 120-150 days usually. People are like "you go through a pair of skis every season!?!" this of course coming from people who ski 3 days a season and get new skis every 4 years after 15 uses.

We pay our debt sometimes.

i just get a new pair a year because i love new stuff....and thats how you stay cool

Depends on the skis you are using.

I've just got rid of a Igneous ski that I've had for years and was in great shape.

I've had season where I went through 3 pairs of lines, though.

PE are pretty durable, so they should last a fairly long time. The wood cores will last a little longer than the foam.

There is nothing wrong with endulging on new ski equitment, though.

i went through two pairs this year, if you ski alotta rails and icy landings, you can't expect skis to last

I had the first gen PEs... they lasted a while, but then they started to get softer, and eventually they broke after 2 seasons, 60 days on them either season, so about 120 days. Wood isn't perfect, and after a while from flexing it will change and eventually brake. If they aren't falling apart, replacing skis every 2 years is usually a good idea, because you don't want them to brake when you need them.

it really depends on what kind of shit you are doing..i had 1080s for 2 seasons(my first seaso i didnt do much...that contributed to their lasting)....and they stayd on good condition utni lhalfway thru my second season..then they delamed and had lots of edge seperation and sother shit..so if you ski hard...and do lots of rails expect to go thru skis fast

depending on what you do. example doing rails a ton will make your skis break down faster then if they were doing all moutain. Skiing on skis breaks them down but generally a pair every 2 seasons seems reasonable to me

mrmm well all i kno is my heads have held up better than anything else i've skied on, and the supposed Rail tank, Urban triplets were destroyed in 6 days of skiing under my feet

General lifespan of a ski core of good skiing is around 100 ski days. That's what i have heard anyways.

depends on if you stop using them after they get nasty, or when they completely break. i would say every two years unless something goes wrong.

It depends how much you get them serviced too. You can only get skis belt sanded heavily 5 times, 10 times tops.

i could go through how many i want in a year......but prolly not past 10 unless im trying to break them

yeah I am all mountain so I might be all right for another year

Hopefully I will be skiing the Big K in VT until January, and the other K in CA for the rest of the season.

If you're all-mountain you should be good for a while.

If you're in the park alot and are hitting rails and jumps with hard landings all the time, you're really abusing your skis. Little cracks in the core can become soft spots in your skis, making them flimsier, and when your edges wear down you lose some control of your ski, not to mention every little chip that lets some water into the core of your ski puts your ski at risk of rot.

With all-mountain, I'm assuming your talking about groomers/bumps/pow with some park mixed in there, your skis will likely last you longer. I rode ARVs for a year (first year they came out) and almost never took them in the park. They were in great shape come the end of the year (only cosmetic damages) whereas my park skis were getting bagged to snot.

It really all depends on what you ride and how you ride.

i usually use my skis for 2 years and i ski about 40-50 days a year, and then i buy some skis late in the winter of the second year so i can get them way cheap, like how i got last years fujitives for 200 bucks and the end of this winter, boh yeah

I got 70 days last year, and I go through a pair every year. My chronics are pretty beat up.

ride them till they lose their pop. and if you lay them on a flat surface, if the whole ski is touching the surface then your ski is dead.

Well since I'm a poor ass whore, I've been using the same skis for two and a half seasons. I just switch which foot they're on if I'm on powder instead of rails. And I know that's not ideal, but I'm not rich so I do what I can. The edges are pretty much extinct, but I sharpen two of them occasionally. The ones I sharpen are the ones that would be my inside edges when I'm skiing big mtn or powder, because, although the outside edge is important for both rails and big mtn, I need half blunt and half sharp if I wanna ski all over. And I do.

i'm a little smarter to take my belt sander to my skis i just didn't know what a sander and skis had incomon

if you factor out rails they can last maybe about 3 or 4 years before you lose camber in the ski. when you lose camber it's dead
