Question about Line

Hi,

I just picked up a pair of 2014 line chronics (incredible ski by the way), and have a question.

Will I need to detune the edges for rails? I mainly hit boxes but am now migrating to rails. Not keen on doing so since I ski the mountain regularly.

K+ for help!

Peace

Line's edges are the same as any other ski, so you may need to detune them. If you've been hitting boxes a lot already I think they may be good, you still may want to detune underfoot a bit though

^ i am guessing somewhere in Australia or NZ.

detuning edges is not necessary but you can if you really want to/ makes you feel more comfortable. I usually run a gummy stone on the edges underfoot really quick if i feel like they are catching a little too much but sometimes i just let them detune on their own.

If you're hitting boxes no problem then don't detune them. They naturally detune by skiing and rails will feel the same as boxes

detune them underfoot and you wont really feel a difference when your not in the park, and it will prevent your edges from cracking as fast.

Yup this, but others were suggesting to do a natural de-tune, it is still possible to get some edge cracks on boxes if there is metal on metal contact. So it's not a bad idea to get an underfoot tune. If you know the guys at the shop they should do it for free. Mine did.

You will feel a difference (unless the snow is never hard/icy) ... but you have to choose between rails and edges. Even if you don't detune them underfoot, the rails will dull and/or destroy your edges.

It's nearly impossible to keep your edges sharp underfoot (where it matters most) if you're skiing rails. Most park skiers either have a separate pair of skis for all-mountain skiing or decide that it's worth giving up good edge hold on hard snow so they can ski rails.

i have two pairs of line skis (masterminds and TCs) started sliding rails with them prob a day after i first used them, no issues
