Quarantine Art Thread?

Hey all,

Wondering if there are any active skier artists around this site.

I have felt a fair amount of stress regarding EI, jobs, school, and whatnot this week, and have come back to art, which is a great way to loosen up and forget our current reality.

In this thread, I figured why not post up whatever I do for the sake of documentation, and hope for any other active art people join in with any medium. Crit is welcome.

Here are two quick gesture sketches from today.

That's super dope. Is it a reduction print or do you have separate blocks for each colour that you register to print?

I would love to see one with a flat colour printed first, like a super subtle light pink or blue just so it pops off the background more instead of using the paper for white.

Also do you have your own press or are you hand burnishing?

thanks man, yes it's a woodblock reduction print. i originally had planned 2 blocks but i wanted the registration to be pretty exact for small details, so i cut it twice.

that would be great, i like it a lot, i'll try and incorporate into a future print. i have a lot of ideas to try out as i just started learning printmaking this last year, limited supplies rn i need to order an RGB ink set and extender so i can get more colors, atm i only have those two colors in the print, a burnt sienna and black. also some more carving tools, only have a small v gouge and medium u gouge. hopefully can sell some pieces so i can buy more materials, thinking about opening an etsy.

yes, hand pulled. i use a cheap baren that's a dried bamboo leaf wrapped around cardboard. most of my tools are japanese cause i order from a site that imports a bunch of stuff. interested in engraving tools though too. maybe one day it would be a fun project to try and build a press.

I've been learning how to paint! Just acrylic on paper mostly because that's all I've got kicking around. It's a really nice new challenge. I've also been making paint from soil and rocks that I collected in Moab, and the whole earth pigment process has been a really cool learning experience. Hoping to make some out of bones I collected next.

I whipped this up to commorate my late furry friend JETHRO TULL. He sadly moved away to a distan farm far away from me :((((. Plese always remember him :)

yo I'm so stoked I found this thread. Here's some of my work from quarantine/the spring- did a lot of paint nights with the squad & had fun making quick drawings/paintings, also got to learn photoshop which was dope! Right now I'm mostly doing more digital stuff & learning to sew/use a sewing machine & painting on fabric (denim rn). The table was a collaborative effort, in the peak of the Q me & my friends tripped shrooms & painted it lol it was lit

This thread makes me so damn happy. There is so much talent on here, and it's always so rad to see.

I am almost finished with my sketchbook, which'll be a first haha. Here are a couple more pieces I've cranked out in the last few months.

Why didn't I find out about this service a little earlier ... I recently gave my girlfriend a schnauzer and I really wanted to somehow capture this moment. I think a picture in this style would look very cool. I found a slightly different service that creates equally amazing pictures from various templates (if you are interested, you can visit https://wordartprints.com/product-category/schnauzer-gifts), but after I saw your post, then I I wanted to buy another painting. True, it will be difficult to know exactly where to put it, but I hope my girlfriend will find a great place for her. Thanks for sharing!

I'm blown away by all of the talent here, these are incredible! Thanks to everyone who shared for the eye candy.

Over quarantine I got back into art and I think it’s become something that I want to pursue as a career, at least for the short term. I’ve had quite a bit of success for such a short period of time but there’s so many things i need to figure out and improve on. If anyone wants to check out my stuff my ig is @oozblue!
