Well, mac now makes their g5 with 2 dual 2.5ghz processors. That is fucking insane. They go for like 3,299 but shit, it's still fucking sick.
 
ohh yeah..and you can put 16 gb of ram memory..fuck...13000$$$

you must ben very wealthy to own one...

but like you said..it's insane
 
And it has PCI Express, DDR2...features it should have had long ago, but now its seriously kickass. It encodes SD video 60% faster than the old dual 2.7.
 
Ever since I got to play with G5's at a photo workshop, I've had a whole new respect for macs. Still prefer my PC's, but Macs are definately cool.
 
I was thinking more along the lines of a dual xeon setup for rendering (3DS, VIZ ETC). Will run about a 1500 for the mama

and two 3.0 xeons

What do you guys say?

ya, i think apple make catch on finally...once they get everything intel they will blow away the competition..they're willing to do anything.
 
We have a G5 at school for editing, but every that isn't supposed to use it (everyone in the school but me and 2 other kids) fucks it up. It takes 20 minutes to boot up now. Once it's running though, it kicks major ass. So fucking fast.
 
^Wow that really sucks. We have 7 of them with the flat screen monitors, 3 gl2's and our own tv set. It's a pretty sick class and I love it.
 
That's sweet. We have 2 other PC's, one of which is pretty good. We also have an xl1s and thousands of generic sony/canon mini dv cams. 3 gl2's would be nice...
