don't get me wrong, i like the idea of that being the way to hype it, and ~10 years ago that would be the way it was done. and putting the full clips of bangers in the trailer was frowned upon.

but nowadays you get way more exposure out of it by posting something about it on youtube etc. this thread here has 1700 views. a few other sites may have a small mention of it. max parrot's quad underflip video and sammy carlson's sw trip rodeo on youtube have around 200,000 views each. a relative handful of ski dorks like us being hyped about it being ambiguous in the trailer doesnt even touch that.

I understand what you are saying and I partially agree. However also remember this trailer is on youtube posted by Red Bull and has 51,000+ views there as well with a few mentions of the possible quad in the comments. Either way it looks like a sick movie!

But you also have to look at what is the size of the audience they expect to appeal to. I agree those other videos have garnered a very large number of views but that doesn't account for the amount of time they have been out which furthers the amount of time they can gain hype. This type of marketing has been used before. If I remember correctly Beyonce released an entire album in secret but when people found out there was more hype than if they had promoted its release.

true, i didn't think about that. and yeah, don't get me wrong, it looks sick, and i really applaud them if they are going the route of not shouting about a quad and leaving it for the movie

yeah true. i mean, i guess what we're debating here depends on what their supposed goal is-- just getting hype and attention to them, or trying to sell more copies of the movie? because if it's the former, i think posting a full clip of it and announcing it is the way to go (exposure-wise). but if theyre more concerned with selling the movie, maybe youre right, and the beyonce approach will be rewarded. either way, like i said, i think it's sick

It does look sick but if it was a quad then it was hushed up for marketing purposes. I'll watch it for sure

Yeah I sped it down to.25 of it's original speed and I could definetly make out the Volkl Wall and red bull helmet ever so slightly. So it's either Russ or Oystein. I'm going to say Russ because he's been doing triples longer than anyone and muscle memory would allow him to quad a little bit easier perhaps? Anyways film is free for 24 hours on october 16th
 
Probably a quad ATTEMPT. Had been landed, footage would have already been released for skiers to be able to claim it before the snowboarders
 
I can't imagine this being a triple with the amount of air he has left halfway around the 3rd rotation. I'd say either a landed quad or a bail.

even if that was a triple still is the sickest one ive ever seen. i hope its a quad though i dont understand how anyone could ever hate on a quad that looks that good. also, that whole trailer was amazing probably gonna buy this
 
It looks like a triple. There's not much time left, and probably he just opened up a bit. It doesn't look like he would even over-rotate.

No one has discussed the possibility that it's a girl doing the first female triple.

Okay it definitely wasn't Russ. I just read his blog from the shoot and he didn't even attempt a triple, let alone a quad.

Idk after reading the blog I didn't get the sense a quad had been thrown.

If they wanted to keep as an huge teaser to buy the movie, why should russ make it look like an quad had been thrown?

It's just the speculation that makes the hype , if they just released it right away everyone would have been like: yea cool

But no one would have goten a motivation to buy the movie where they can directly make money from the sales of the movie.
 
I JUST SAW THE WHOLE SHOT

It was on German TV and Bene Mayr was there, they showed a few shots from the movie and most of them were Pow Shots from Alaska but the last shot they showed was from the big jump in the trailer and it was Bene throwing a triple. The last rotation was laid out as fuck and he had to stretch out all the way but it was a Trip!

Yeah yeah yeah so it wasn't a triple... bummer. We even chanted QUAD QUAD QUAD QUAD in the IF3 movie theater right before it played.

They trolled us good. Don't worry though, the movie is still INSANE and is a can't miss for sure.
 
That park segment from Passenger is absolutely bananas and Dennis Ranalter did some of the most legit tricks I've ever seen.

the disappointment level was high after no quad.......

Jk, passenger was the sickest movie at if3, maybe the best I've ever seen. The last park segment was the raddest thing I've seen. If the movie doesn't get you hyped to go skiing, no matter what discipline, park or big mountain, then there's something wrong with you.

a message to everyone thats disappointed about it not being a quad, theres probably going to be one this next season, just wait a little longer for it.

I personally would like if it pros just worked on styling crazy tricks like dubs and triples out instead of xgames big air turning into a huckfest
