PVC rails with kinks.

well, basically you have to make the PVC with no gaps that you would catch an edge on. So for the first down section, have the end of the down portion of the PVC, go above the flat section. and as for the second down part, have the end of the flat section, go above the start of the second down part. i know its kinda hard to see without pics but im trying my best. haha

i just drew this up really fast to sorta get across my idea better. this will work much better single barreled too

dude just cut the pvc piping at the angles you want the kink to be, then to make sure there are no points it will catch / be open put the 2 layers of super thin (6mm) ply board on the first down directly under the piping before u attach it, then 1 layer of (6mm) on the flat under the piping, then no 6mm thick stuff under the last set (just screw it into ur base wood) and you should be perfect

I made a down flat that is pretty secksy. Really simple all you have to do is measure out what you want the kinks to be, cut them normally. Then, build your supports sturdy, the kink will have to be shorter obviously, I would go for some simple supports, like 24" for the top, 20" forthe kink(for the kink you will have to make an angled cut for whatever angle you want the kink to be at: this is important, think out for a while want you want the angle to be and make sure you have a picture of it in mind) 16" for the bottom. Just make it simple and smooth. Put supports on both sides of the rail, I recommend sandwiching two 2x4's together for the supports, especially at the kinks, mine have come a little loose and I had to doctor it a little bit. If you get the pvc pipes really plum to eachother, you won't catch an edge. Then you gotta sand the kinks out, I would use 200+ grit sandpaper for this. There ya go! PM me for any questions you've got! I can draw out a schematic if you need.

Im interested in making one of these for this winter aswell... any popular lengths? down (5ft), flat (5ft), down(5ft)? or should it be longer? 8ftDn 8ftFlat 8ftDn?

I think 8 feet would be more fun. Also suggest miter, angled cuts for the pvc and then use JB Weld on the joints. It will make a smooth hard transition. It can be sanded and is really durable.
