I want to build a rail before the snow really starts flying, if have a basic plan but was wondering if anyone has any tips on the construction.

if its a big one (anything bigger than 3" around) do it like i did, super sturdy and easy. anything smaller, youll need a 2x4 underneath w/ some supports. and check out the build a jib cult.

learn on a single pipe, then you can put the box jocks to shame

if you want flat, use a 2x4 - 2x8 underneath, screw that to some kind of triangle type support. triangle shapes are the best since they can never be off balance. try to stay away from any type of 4 leg design.

and how can you not do "ski slide variations" on that PVC tube? It will be so much easier to learn on that. than on a box.

here's mine i regret making it so tall..over Thanksgiving break im gonna make it shorter but just get 2 small tubes and make a double pipe rail, it works pretty slick

how'd you secure the pvc pipes to the lumber? i'm ready to put the pvc down on the frame but i'm not sure of the best way to do it yet, does countersinking the screws still create holes that catch on edges?

Screw the screw in through the wood up into the pvc, so that the screw is facing upward. This doesn't work so well if you're using large diameter pvc though, cause it'll be too wobbly.
