i want to make a single barrel pvc rail but i dont know how to attach the pvc to the 2x4 im using. im trying to put the pvc on the 2 inch side of the 2x4 btw

alright so do you think this would work? this is like a cross section of it so there would be alot more screws and theyd go in on both sides
 
That might work, but only if it absolutly had to. Your best bet is to drill straight up through the center of the board into the rail. Do this when it is attached to the wood with a vise grip or something. Drill the hole all the way in to and through th PVC. You can then either use lag screws, big ass deck screws, or bolts of it is at the very end of the pipe. I hope this helps, I've done it about a million times so I can do diagrams or pics if you want.
 
pics and diagrams would be sick but are they for like a single barrel cause i know how to do doubles. those would haft to be some long ass screws thow
 
I'll take a pic of my single now, you can get 4-5 lag screws and bolts at a hardware store pretty cheap
