I want to use metal pipe instead of pvc so I can use the rail for bmx. How do metal rails differ from pvc and are there any downsides? will they harm my skis at all?
your on NS, you will get ripped apart for asking if it will harm your skis, PVC IMO slides way better if you have super dull edges, and you dont need a welder haha
Im not sure if you plan on using this rail in the summer time with your skis but I have noticed that sometimes metal rails do not slide well in the summer because of the heat. You just tend to stick on it.
PVC rails are fun and all, but metal rails are the best. If you can make a metal rail (or at least the sliding surface metal and a wood frame) I would definitely recommend it.
pvc is better for your edges and sometimes slides better depending on how often you hit it. the metal at parks is so good because its hit so much, but at home it could get a little sticky
i use PVC because it is cheap and effective but if you plan on jumping really far or high then landing on it make sure it is thick or it will crack and ruin you bases (and your face when you fall) maybe go with metal for the BMX though because if you try to pedal grind or even with your pegs in the summer it can get soft and will stick with the added weight
try one and let me know how it worked
