Putting stuff on the ipod video

from what this guy who worked for apple told me at a reno best buy, you can only put shit you buy off itunes on it. no home movies, no dvds! anyone have it, and can you put shit on it
 
you can, i was listening to someone who had it and they were telling someone who was getting it how you do it. you have to get like 2 or 3 programs to do it, but i cant remember what the programs are called.
 
ive got war, kill bill and fear and loathing all ready to go for my ipod when i get it tommorow morning.
