The distinction is not one I like to make. Bands like Arch Enemy don't even define themselves as a specific genre. Hardcore punk influenced hardcore, and some metal bands influenced hardcore punk. It's all one huge happy family of fucking awesome.

Nonetheless, those bands are choice, and you should all at least sample some of zeir moosic.

Your icon reminded me that this thread requires Operation Ivy.

Hard to believe that no one seems to know what punk rock is. Get educated:

Also, look up the Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys and Generation X.

If you've never heard of Bad Brains, you really shouldn't be posting in a thread about punk. Pretty much all those bands you listed are metal bands, metalcore, whatever you want to call it. Yeah, hardcore has influenced modern metal and vice versa, but that doesn't make it punk. NS just usually fails at punk in general. That kid that posted the Decline... knows whats up, as well as holyDINOSAURS (made a thread about your icon the other day and ended up getting banned, but Black Flag fucking rules!). If you kids want to get into punk, here's some bands to get you started: The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, The Clash, X, Iggy and the Stooges, Sham 69, Black Flag, the Dead Kennedys, Battalion of Saints, Amebix, Crass, GBH, Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Fear, The Germs, the Adicts, The Descendents, the Adolescents, Big Black, Gorilla Biscuits, Youth Brigade, Nausea, Operation Ivy, Discharge, Bikini Kill, Circle Jerks, D.R.I., Suicidal Tendencies, the Dead Milkmen, Husker Du, Gorilla Biscuits, Minutemen, the list goes on and on. Be wary of watered down corporate garbage created solely for monetary gain. Kill punk rock-stars.

I listen to everything when i skii don't like to be stuck on a single genre for too long
