Pulled over for longboarding?

My homies and I were longboarding in a neighbor hood with a sick hill and after we would go down we would all hold on to his car and get a ride up to the top. Also first time getting speed wobbles up a hill. And later a cop came and said there was a complaint of some kids were holding on to a car on skateboards. The cop also said longboarding/skating is illegal on the road and we had to go home.

Is this law true ? and any stories that relate to this?
 
You should've just told him to go fuck himself, and then pulled out a huge blunt. That'd woulda showed him.

Came in to say it depends on city codes. In my city skating is illegal pretty much everywhere, it's horse shit.

HOWEVER

your bitch ass wasn't skating you were longboarding. YOU LONGBOARDERS are the retards that get these laws implemented in the first place. You fucks are the ones that die because you're skitching a car up a hill one of you eats shit and your head gets caught under the tire and you're fucking dead and getting a closed casket funeral.

You fucking jamoke longboarders don't do anything cool. You ride down hills, realize you can't stop or speed check very easily then you get to an intersection and t-bone a car because you can't stop fast enough. The car always wins. Why don't you buy a real skateboard and send yourself down some stairs and hand rails, wax up some ledges, go learn to fucking kickflip. Learn how to actually ride a board. Learn how to have 100% complete control of a board. And learn that longboarding is fucking stupid and cannot touch real skateboarding.

All the laws in my city that fuck me, A REAL SKATEBOARDER, came about because idiot kids hop on longboards eat shit and die. I wish I was kidding and I know it's sad. But we had three deaths in a year because of longboarders getting in over their head. Not one incident involved anyone riding a real skateboard. Officers here have more respect for kids who actually ride a real skateboard because they can see that the kids on real skateboards actually know how to control themselves. They see that kids on real skateboards are actually doing something cool, and difficult, and interesting. What we do is harder than what you do, cooler than what you do, and we do it safer than how you do it.

Enjoy your ticket. Go learn how to skate. oh and don't skitch uphill it's stupid as shit and you deserve a ticket for it.

Yea, you can be pulled over for longboarding. It's legal on walkways/sidewalks but illegal if you're in the street, however most cops won't do anything. I've gotten pulled over for longboarding and the cop wrote me a 76 dollar ticket under that catagory "playing in the street". I was able to fight it off, but still had to pay the 30 dollar court hearing fee.
 
Skating in the road is illegal in most places. I have had my name written down so many damn times and threatened with $200 tickets. Its so dumb, I skate in control and the cop tells me I need to get off the road because people speed and drive drunk. Well the problem isn't with me is it, Its those drivers who are driving like idiots. The police need to go after the actual problem instead of making a styrofoam society, harassing youth, and being lazy assholes. We tried to change the laws by implementing measures of safety among the community such as bike and skate lanes so the roads would be more friendly to other modes of transportation. We went to city hall meetings for a year and a half slowly getting the ticket dropped from a misdemeanor which was a fucked up law and kids did get $500 tickets just for riding their boards in the street. Most old people don't understand that skateboading can be done in a safe manor becuase they dont think you have a way of stopping. No person needs to ask me if I know what the hell I am doing when I am downhill skating, I say "bitch I'm skating!" Whoop whopp 5 oh pulls up and I am heated as fuck.
 
These guys must all be longboarders just posing as skateboarders, seeing as how they lack 100% complete control of the board.

My buddy got arrested for skating on go skate day like 8 years ago. Had a "skateboarding is not a crime" shirt on. Best mug shot.

 
NO FUCK YOU its your fault that you skateboard and grind on ledges, DESTROYING PROPERTY. Long boarding is the equivalent to riding a bike its just because of fucks like you that go around scratching everything up and slamming your board everywhere that anyone on a long board, who is simply cruising around, gets labeled as a "SKATEBOARDER" and therefore is assumed to be destroying property.

Now im not saying that all skateboarders are in the wrong. There are plenty of times where they are mistreated for bullshit reasons i know, and its not 100% of the time they are actually destroying property by grinding on ledges. However there is no doubt that grinding on ledges/rails will cause damage, but saying its long boarders faults for these laws because they sometimes fall is absolutely fucking wrong. When a long boarder falls they hurt THEMSELVES, most the time on public property. When a skateboarder falls its on private property and in doing so it costs the owner money to repaint re-apply concrete etc. and pay for any little fucks lawsuit.

I like skateboarders and everything they are about, but this post is absolutely fucking retarded.

No sir you are 100% wrong do you think city law makers give a rats ass about if you longboard or skateboard to them you are standing on a piece of wood with wheels. If anything longboarders are unfairly prosecuted because of the actions of skateboarders, citys dont make these laws you are complaining about because three people died on longboards, think how many people die in traffic due to bike accidents, is bikiing illeagal? No, Its the thousands of dollars in damages that skateboards due to private and public property. Honestly are you "real skaters" mentally impaired do you think property owners enjoy you tresspassing and damaging what they paid for? No, so think with your head before you go and have your ignorant bitch fits.

Why are bikes allowed in the street but not longboards? They make special bike lanes, but if you're on a longboard its suddenly completely different... Obviously skateboards can destroy property/vandalize etc but what harm is some kid cruising on a longboard going to do

It's all in personal preference, not only that and a lot of the time it's normal skateboarders skitching, and ending up dead, in my town at least. Skateboarders have always had a bad reputation, before I was born, and probably before you were too, get fucking used to it.

Also, it's people like you who don't help the situation what so ever. Go make a petition or something to ban longboards if you're so butthurt about them.

Also how the fuck can you speed check if a car is coming if you're sending yourself down some stairs and hand rails, you can't you dumb fuck. I can find way more material of people doing exactly that, and getting hit by a car, than longboarders bombing hills and hitting cars.

Bikes most of the time have brakes unless you are some douche hipster with a fixie with no brakes. If you know what you are doing on a board you can foot brake and slide when you need to and you shouldn't be skating steeper downhills when there is traffic. If there is constant staked traffic and you need to stop and you are going too fast to foot brake you will slide into a car.

I think the problem is where people choose to bomb hills. Pick roads with little traffic, little to no intersections, and hills within your level. Learn to slide, do checks so you don't eat shit and die, wear a helmet and wear a helmet that is astm certified.
 
OP, what neighborhood/town were you longboarding in? Off topic, there were just some kids like 2 or 3 days ago doing just that in my friend's neighborhood that we saw a few times.

I do think long boarding can be lame, but there is that crazy video where the guys are going faster then the cars.
