Puffy Jackets

This may be a stupid question, but I was

just wondering how much warmer are down jackets than a regular

insulated jacket or shell. Is it going to be too warm for the spring

with just a base layer on and is it going to get too hot during hikes?

I have never worn a puffy before, so any advice would be great. Thanks.

cant get much warmer for the winter but during the spring deff would get a little warm, even with just a base layer.

My Oakley puffy has vents and is still warm in the spring even with a base layer. During the Winter its awesome, I only wear a base layer on cold cold days (I live in Colorado, it gets cold here). I do not wear it all the time, it gets to hot.

tomorrow im going to waterville and its gonna be like around the 0 degree Fahrenheit mark. What should i wear under my puffy. its the 686 ace down if that matters at all

and if i washed my pants now, would the be dry in the morning from just air drying, no machine

i have the same jacket and really an under aromur or thermal under a t shirt will suffice for that temp.
