PTEX PROBLEMS

Reading another thread made me think about the problems I have been having with ptexing my skis. I might be doing something wrong.

That is the core shot.

Anyways, I have re-ptexed about 6 times now. every day I ride, the ptex cracks and falls out.

in ptexing, i cut away the edges of base, sanded everything down, cleaned with rubbing alcohol, then drippped ptex in. I then waited for it to dry and sanded it down to a nice smooth finish.

if ptex isnt cutting it for you go to your local hardware store and see if they have an J B Weld. its an mixtre of epoxy and "liquid steel" and it wont tear out like ptex. only downside is it doesnt hold wax well.

well it might have been my thread you were reading.... sanding the surface that is going to come in contact helps a little bit and make sure the flame is close to the ski, however that looks like a gnar shot and might be worth getting a base weld from a shop

4The skis are not worth the money. I will spend 2.00$ on a ptex candle, but I'm not paying someone to fuck with skis that are delaming and have the edge ripped out the length of the ski.

I might try and weld the bases myself though, could be something good to know how to do.

well good call man, let me know how successful the base weld is, i just filled my core shot again today ha ha

I just got done doing the same. all the problems I have had with these skis has just been on one ski.

I would be rock'n my watch lifes but there isnt enough snow to go a run without hitting a rock, so i'm still shredding the rock lovin TNKs.

If you have any chance at p-tex sticking in that size of hole, you need

to use a p-tex gun. However most repairs in that location of the ski(on

the edge and to the core) would use something other then p-tex.

Bring them by Boreal some afternoon/evening and I will fix them for free!

totally chill offer. I might have to take you up on that sometime soon, probably a friday (in a week or 2). I will exchange beer for fixed ski.
