American Airlines sent my bag on the wrong plane and offered to pay for renting any gear I was without on the flight. Was just a jacket and ski clothes which my dad brought extra of so I was fine but they still drove 3 hours from the airport to my hotel to deliver my bag a couple days later. Got injured on the trip and missed my flight home so they gave me like 90% off a hotel at the airport and upgraded my flight back to business class.
Southwest fucking tosses bags. Mf's broke my poles and managed to make both heel pieces on my pivots snap closed with dins set to 11. Basically told me to fuck myself and do a better job padding my shit when my skis and poles were wrapped in 2 weeks worth of clothes separately. SW is pretty much hit or miss cause most other times have been pretty good but pad the fuck out of anything you check like it's gonna be tossed off a 5 story building, especially with ski bags. Maybe take pictures when packing so you have evidence of any gear not being fucked up first.
Norwegian airlines is nice af for the cost with overall good service but they're sticklers about bags being overweight at most airports, though I found if you're leaving from a smaller airport with a connecting flight they don't really give a shit and will let you check whatever you want.
