PS4 vs Xbox 1. Which is better?

I realize that this topic is probably a repost but im just curious. I dont want to start any fights, just a good ol' discussion on the next gen consoles. Please refrain from talking about the Wii U or PC gaming please. This is just to steer my friend in the right direction on what hes going to buy. Id ask if anyone plays ps4 but since ski season just started in the northeast im not going to be playing much anyway.
 
I have the ps4 and i really like it. At the moment though there isn't very many games which kind of gets annoying. By june it will start to get really good because that's around when most games are coming out.

As an engineering student I could tell you that you cannot make a PC for 400 dollars that will be overall better than the ps4. It is literally impossible right now, but hey...you probably couldn't tell me the difference between a byte and a bit so whatever....you dweeb.
 
I can build a PC that can shit on the PS4/Xbox in every way shape and form and have components that the 4th gen PS4/Xbox wont even have in 2 years. And I can do a hell of a lot more on it than play games. But I'm obviously wrong because your engineering student status makes your opinion the word of God and your shit surely is polished and golden.

Also factor in the price of games as well as subscriptions. You can buy the console maybe, but what are you going to play on it unless you buy games for 60 bucks each.
 
I built mine for 750 total about 4 years ago and it still runs any game I want at max graphics 100+fps. BF4 runs at max graphics at around 60fps with a low of 50ish. Case was from my old rig but you can find cases for less than 50 bucks on classifieds/ebay all day.

More initial investment but cost over time is much less than that of any console and performance is still higher than the current consoles. At least they FINALLY introduced anti aliasing and 1080p in console games. That's the thing that bugged me most about the PS3 and 360.

Between the One and the PS4 I think the PS4 is better. Now only if we could combine the controller of the XBOX with the PS4 console, you'd have a deadly combo...
 
1 more thing that I wish consoles had.

So many games for so cheap all at your fingertips. So many epic deals and one day Half Life 3...

L O L. The "every way shape and form" made me laugh soooo much. Now i literally cant take you seriously. Either you're on the PCs dick so far that you actually think you can do that or you're just dumb. And btw i never said anything about an xbox...I know they have less power and for 500 a better computer could be possible, but to have the nerve to say you can build a PC for 400 bucks that outperforms the ps4 is every way is the funniest thing ive ever heard.
 
Apparently you havent played Resogun yet...came free with the ps4 and it is easily the greatest PSN game ive ever played.
 
I could throw something serious together if you were really interested or just wait for the $499 ibuypower steam box thats coming out later next year.

Granted it won't max out games in high quality but it would match or better that of a PS4. n(The steambox will at 1080p and 60fps)

Then you add the facts in the steam sales, all those steam sales, plus no subscriptions. The autumn sale just got done but rumors of the winter sales within the next few weeks, with so many games at 75% off. Then add the fact you can use it for other things like surfing newschoolers.
 
You clearly haven't played PC yet with it huge library of free to play games, as well as games that are $2.50-$7.00.
 
BF4 was just on sale for black friday for 20-30 bucks. and I think AC4 had a discount on the steam autumn sale, might also maybe get one during the winter sale in a few weeks. Origin had a big sale but I didn't really check anything besides hearing the discount on BF4, they probably had a deal on AC4 as well.
 
This. Hoping for a mad cats controller or something. Maybe somebody can build me one. xbox fucking nailed it on the controller. Brought me over form ps2. That said I'm done with xbox. Unless I really want to keep my account for some reason/ play old games. I'm not buying one for a year anyway. I always try and let the bullshit get sorted out before I drop a few hundred.
 
Damn thats really sick, if my friends didn't all play consoles then I would definitely look into remaking my old PC rig.
 
During the steam sale they had some pretty good deals. Some I remember, Skyrim for $7.49, Counter Strike: Global Offensive for $3.74, Antichamber for like 4 bucks, Dishonored for like 5, Civ V for like 5. An absolute shit ton of games for like 70-80% off.
 
New ps4 controller is pretty awesome. This is coming from a guy who had a 360 a despised ps3 controllers.

But yea OP. Go PS4. $100 cheaper. Plays games at 1080p unlike x1.

 
No fucking shit a PC will dominate a console. You would really bother to make that point? You can build a PC? Congratulations, no one cares.

It's sort of true. It might be partly due to that the consoles were just released. In 2 years or so, it might be a significant different between old/new gen.

 
Some relevant answers to OPs question would be cool. Take your "build your own console instead bla bla bla bla" stuff elsewhere please...

Don't throw in qualifiers to make you sound smart that have no bearing on your argument
 
They want to put their privates all over my liquid cooled baby. It's hard to keep their genitals out of my case to be quite honest. I cant even let women in my room anymore its become so bad.
 
All of them are awesome. You really can't go wrong with either, but there is really nothing worth paying the premium for right now. The xb1 seems to have better games as of right now though.
 
PC gaming is better. Except I like to game with my friends. And since my parents didn't enrol me in computer club, magic the gathering club, dungeons and dragons, anime club, and other fantasy mystic magical clubs, I have to to use a ps4 cause my friends I made thru soccer, skiing, hockey, baseball, biking, skateboarding etc, don't know how to build computers.

However, I might stop by my local comic book store or gaming cyber cafe to see if I can make so new friends who might also know how to build gaming PCs.
