PS4 Release

Heard that best buy employees aren't allowed to get theirs for like another 24 hours or so. My friend who works at the one up here tried getting in line after his shift but his manager shut him down.
 
It's not actually 8 cores. It's probably 4 physical and 4 logical. Plus until designers actually make new games from scratch without just doing something like using old cod and reskinning it to ghosts it doesn't matter how many cores it has.
 
Buddy means neighbor who's 15 and really wants it. Hell I'm no complaining, I got some money to pay my speeding ticket, go on a date, and get a tank of gas.
 
another thread jack question as this isn't worthy of it's own thread...i see that there are 12 gb PS3 for 2 bills, or i can get a 500 GB PS3 with GTA5 for 270. now, i'm not dying to have gta5...more of a COD fan, but i'd play it i'm sure. is a 12 gb version sufficient, or should i bite the bullet and get a bigger hard drive? how important is that hard drive space? no idea how far 12 would get me....
 
i didnt even know they made them as small as 12 but i had an old 18 and it sucked because you couldnt have more than 4 or 5 games installed at a time, if i wanted to play a new game i would have to delete all the saved data and everything from one and if i wanted to play it again i would have to start over, it sucks if you like sports games and want to play them every once and a while but not lose your rosters, or if you like to play a few different games at once, definitely spend the extra 50 bucks and get a big harddrive

The Sears didn't do pre orders for PS4 so I got there at 9 when they opened, there were only a few other people there and I was able to get 3. Sold within 5 hours later.
 
i know i said id never buy ghosts, but i had to. battlefield 4 is AWFUL with regards to the online interface. you can't customize your set up or equipment unless you're in a game. yayy everyone gets to idle while you lose and are changing your shit around. you can't (and this is a big one) queue for a game in a party! like, wtf? isn't this the main thing people do when gaming online? especially on a game that has squad play and is supposed to be all tactical.

though i like the realism of the game and the huge big maps with all the vehicles, they completely fucked up the online experience. you can't even check your kills/deaths or the scoreboard without pausing and navigating to a separate window. none of that "check shit on the fly" kind of interfacing.

so i got cod strictly to play with friends and at least enjoy some team play. and since everyone plays cod, there's no shortage of finding matches..
 
yeah playing cod alone is impossible. I think went like 27 and 4 or something and we still lost. you can't carry your whole team cause everyone is equal more or less. It's not like halo where your individual contribution means more. playing alone is frustrating as fuck. also most of the maps are too big for 6v6. and no one installed the skyscraper map which came with all the games so you'll never play it which is a shame since it'd be a good shotgun level.
 
dude i agree, that shit makes playing battlefield a chore. can't mess with your kit when youre not in a game, i'm put in empty games all the time, it's freezing really often... i love bf but im almost thinking about getting cod cause it's just easy and fine tuned and fun
 
When I say I play cod. Everyone always bashes it and says its 10 year old kids. Anyways got BF4 for ps4. Wtf is this shit? I can't party up before the game. Can't create a class before I enter the match. Like, how the hell do people like this layout? It's boring and lame. They could change a few things and the game would be WAY better. Hate the multiplayer. Ghosts is a shitty cod game too. Not TOO bad though. Maybe kills one or destiny will be better. Pretty disappointed though. I want a re release of black ops or mw2 or mw3 or cod4revamped with more shit. Takes so damn long to unlock stuff in ghosts too.
 
plus the xbone dev kit wasnt finalized (thats why COD ghosts isnt native 1080p) so initial games wont be that much better than 360
 
yeah dude, there are so many little things they could change that would make it so much better

oh and it takes fucking forever to rank up/unlock things. seems like simple psychology to me that people like unlocking shit more often and it will keep them playing. i really don't see why they make it take so long to rank up.. i can't play 20 hours a week, i just wanna pop in for a few matches here and there and actually have some fucking equipment

If you're a gamer, have been playing FPS/COD/BF/etc since at elast n64 (which is everyone) then I see no reason why this thread was even made.

SONY fell off. What the real question should be is, Will the XBone stay competitive to VALVe's new console in the coming years? They are th eboys behind everything you know about CPU graphics, engines, and gameplay. Everyone shut the fuck up and let the big boys talk

 
Playstation sucks, Xbox is way better, its all in the controllers. Xbox Controllers form fit a manly mans hands, Play Station controllers on the other hand are meant for people with tiny pussy girly hands. Real men play xbox, pussies play playstation.
 
same as with ps4.

the graphics in cod ghosts/gtaV/whatever last tier releases for ps3/360 will be pretty on par with ps4/xbone for a little while. development for the last gen were at its peak in terms of getting the full performance from the system and its hardware, these first tier releases will be just hitting the tip of the iceberg in terms of optimizing and taking full advantage of the systems' performance
 
As someone with an 8 core cpu, things aren't all about adding more cores. Some games can't take advantage of all the cores and when you have a gaming dedicated system having 8 cores can be extreme overkill as well as the point that many of AMDs cpus even with 8 cores suffer from single core performance to an Intel cpu. Not that I have anything against AMD as I run it in my system. Just check the new CPU that AMD released which is a 5Ghz stock clock CPU that takes a massive 220W power intake which is probably hell for power as well as heat which are two things you don't need in a small form factor system. AMD has really been headed in the MOAR CORES MOAR GHZ direction while Intel has been doing great things in power efficiency and size.

But AMD has been doing great things in APU(CPU and GPU, see their "A" Series) technology which is what the PS4 (and probably the XBone) are running, and make things much more affordable for Intel. I for one am going to wait and see how they squeeze all they can out of these new systems in later years the same way they have the the 360 and the PS3.

But the PC master race is going to become more powerful this generation with the decreasing price of components and the perks of steam/other platforms that's for sure.
 
Big sized original xbox controllers for the win. With the black and white at the top of the controller were by far my favorite controller ever.

But thats what im saying, AMD has been on that route of "MOAR CORES MORE GHZ" while not really thinking of things like power management and single core performance.

More Cores =/= Better all the time.
