I can’t be the only one that noticed that protect our winters or POW only gives money to socialist politicians who want to “fight” climate change with forced government coercion. They SHOULD give money to researching cleaner technology instead so we skiers can keep skiing instead of turning American skiing into communist Russia where we are waiting in breadlines instead of lift lines
 
Hard to take you seriously with the name...still kinda thought it was funny when POW supported to green new deal which would have hurt the ski industry
 
I wonder what incentive a socialist government would have to keep skiing going when we can’t afford universal healthcare
 
Skiing itself is not green. Groomers run on diesel, lifts are powered by a coal/gas electrical grid, and the sleds that mountain ops ride around are filthy 2 strokes. Not to mention the lengthy commutes that skiing incentivizes for people to get to the hill, and no skibum drives a Tesla.

Its really an oxymoron. Skiing which relies on a cold climate is a major greenhouse gas producer.

The best solution I have found is to deny climate change and claim its a Chinese hoax, hope that works.

Ok, so if you really want to protect the environment (looking at you ski resorts) probably stop making manmade snow? I'd imagine all those chemicals are horrible for the environment.

Also - the coal industry is where most of our carbon comes from. Vehicle emissions have been on the decline since the 1940's (if you look at LA smog in the 1940's it was so bad people were hospitalized daily)

I'm gonna go out and say that if any damage has been done to the air quality and atmosphere, it's probably set the next paradigm in swing and there isn't a whole lot we can do about it. But identifying that we did indeed have a role in that paradigm shift and changing our habits now is a good idea.

Also - the big bad oil industry is actually solely responsible for saving the whales. Otherwise they would be an extinct species poached to that state for their blubber in the 1800's

I used ~150 gallons in diesel this past week tearing down a perfectly good park. On top of that I'm required to fill my tier 4 snowcat with a fuck ton of DEF every day to make it compliant with emissions regulations and such.

Those same regulations to curb emissions just make the snowcat less fuel efficient than non t4 cats by about 10%...

The entire ski industry is one giant cluster fuck and anything to do with "gReEeen-ness" is a circle jerk designed drum up emotions among people who don't see or understand the big picture.

I'm absolutely FOR environmentally conscious efforts in the ski industry but it will NEVER be 100% green. Not in our lifetimes at least.

inb4 "yeah but we should be leading the world and trying the best we can!". We already are. Short of shutting down resorts across the world and giving up on your hobby there's not much more that can be done with the funds and technology that's available to most resorts.
 
I have so much love for this thread I believe in the strong possibility manmade activities are altering the globe but POW is just finger pointing and blaming others for your misfortune. Speaking of commie shit, they wouldn’t let my car that runs off E85 pass emissions because it didn’t come stock from the factory that way. Shit has nothing to do with actual climate change just a way to cover “corporate” interests for lack of a better term (or a lack of my further intelligence and vocabulary).

but when you look into movements like POW and emissions, there is always an underlying financial interest backing it. Because there has to be, government doesn’t just do things out of the goodness of their heart

e85 is a joke. It might be great for some engines to run on but subsidizing the growth and production of inedible corn using up all of our arable land so that we can feel good about putting a "natural" product in our cars is just about the most retarded thing western civilization is doing right now.

Actually, I take that back. The mining and extraction of lithium for all of our precious batteries might be dumber. Pumping fresh water into the desert just for it to evaporate takes the cake.

100% don’t disagree with you one bit. Ruining one ecosystem so people can believe they’re making a difference in their own is all it is. E85 and E cars may make the air quality better in Denver so people can see the mountains through less of a hazy cloud, but that’s about it. All damaging.

at least these E cars will be self driving before too long—too many idiots on the road shouldn’t be driving as is
